The Life of an O Pretending to Be an A

Lin Xi has been followed by the label "jinx" since childhood. People said he brought bad luck to his father and mother, and even his later stepfather didn't escape his fate.

As he grew up, he confessed to his male idol and was rejected, only to be mocked to his face by the idol's younger brother for "overestimating himself." After one blow after another, he steeled himself and swore he would make something of himself and become so popular that countless people liked him, so many that everyone else could only look up to him. Watching the stars on TV bask in the attention of the masses, he made up his mind and decided to enter show business.

He blundered into a talent agency. Someone inside, a cigarette dangling from his lips, looked him up and down several times, let his gaze linger on Lin Xi's face for a few extra seconds, then slowly pointed him toward a "bright future."

"What level of education?"

"High school... I didn't finish."

"Have you studied acting?"

"No."

"Then go be an idol."

"But I can't carry a tune."

"No problem. Your face is good enough."

"I'm not very coordinated either."

"I said it's fine. All you need is a good face."

After joining, Lin Xi really did ride the face Heaven had blessed him with to a swift burst of buzz. He loved the feeling of being noticed, until he realized that he had joined a group made up entirely of Omegas.

"...Lin Xi, why is your pheromone scent so faint?" A bandmate leaned toward his neck and sniffed curiously.

Lin Xi reflexively covered the fake gland implanted at the back of his neck, his gaze darting away. "I... was just born this way. My scent is pretty faint."

And so began his life pretending to be an Omega despite being a Beta: pretending to have a gland, pretending to have heats. He grew more and more famous, practically a national Omega. As more and more people learned his secret, he gradually stopped needing to pretend. There were always people willing to help him keep up the act: the male idol's younger brother, who wanted to exploit him; the aloof Omega idol who was his bandmate and the idol's third younger brother; and his childhood friend, an Alpha who came looking for him as soon as he got out of prison. They were all fighting for the chance to help him "get through" his heat.

This is probably the legendary story of a face that conquered the entertainment industry.
