[Writing romance fiction, but in a bizarre world of nonhuman creatures 🌻]
Yuan Qingxue, a beloved author of bittersweet romance, unexpectedly transmigrates into a popular site's bizarre horror novel, as an utterly ordinary, weak, nameless monster.
Apart from a pair of useless, pretty horns on his head, he's indistinguishable from a human. He's among the weakest kind of monsters.
Yuan Qingxue knows that in a little over six months, the plot will reach the point where the overpowered protagonist and his crew attack a bizarre instance,
and the poor monster district where he lives will become a battlefield and be reduced to ashes.
Moving to the safe central city in the Abyss requires a large amount of monster coins, and right now, he's practically penniless.
To save up for a move and keep himself alive, Yuan Qingxue returns to his old trade:
writing sweet romance stories.
[A jelly slime temporarily loses its sight after an injury. One day, when it returns home, it discovers that its usually gentle and steady lover has suction cups on its body that don't belong to the slime race.
Only tentacle monsters have suction cups, and tentacle monsters are famously fickle. Every tentacle has its own mind and falls in love with a different partner. How could its lover possibly be a tentacle monster?
The jelly slime goes cold all over and tries to observe in secret. After another intimate encounter, it pretends to be exhausted and falls asleep. Then it discovers that once its lover thinks it's asleep, all eight tentacles burst into a fierce argument, biting and fighting over who gets to cuddle their darling next time.]
The monsters who click on the story: "?!?"
"Aren't tentacle monsters famous for having no limits when it comes to getting spicy, with even an 8P or 16P not enough to satisfy them?"
"How could the story be this innocent? This isn't romance, it's a nursery tale for little monsters!"
Monsters of every bizarre species complain wildly, but are quick to spend money to buy the stories.
Not only does dating tentacle monsters become popular among slimes, but a whole crowd of romantics also takes root among the tentacle monsters, all determined to stay faithful to just one partner.
Looking at the huge amount of monster coins pouring into his account and his rapidly growing base of loyal readers, Yuan Qingxue feels that moving is finally within reach.
He opens his account, switches to a different monster species for his protagonist, and publishes a new story:
[When starfish monsters court and reproduce, one partner devours the other to lay monster eggs. A golden starfish monster has a wonderful lover. As their relationship grows more stable, it prepares to give its life at any moment for the child born of their love. But as mating season draws near, the golden starfish monster discovers that its lover has disappeared.
Two weeks later, while it is being tormented by unbearable heat, it sees two identical versions of its lover return, covered in blood. One says that it has come from the future, will have no effect on the present, and hopes the golden starfish monster will "eat me." ]
[I am a mechanical demon who was once controlled by humans. To turn me into a killing machine, they outfitted me with all kinds of non-original hot and cold weapons. But now I've fallen in love with a particularly wonderful, incredibly innocent younger member of my kind. My mechanical arm and plug aren't original, and it pains me to think that I might hold him back. Are we ultimately just not right for each other?]
Before long, as one sweet romance after another goes on sale,
Yuan Qingxue not only saves enough monster coins to move, but also becomes a well-known rich monster in the bizarre world.
With the original novel's overpowered protagonist plot about to unfold, he has no choice but to move out of the poor district as soon as possible, even though he can't bear to leave his little home and friendly neighbors.
Before leaving, Yuan Qingxue uses what he remembers of the original novel's plot to convince the local official to relocate every monster settlement along the way, paying a huge sum of monster coins. Saving even one expendable character is a win.
When he finally moves to the central city in the Abyss,
somehow, he ends up living next door to the Demon Lord who rules the bizarre world. Just as he instinctively starts trembling in fear,
the Demon Lord steps out of the ancient castle with a special housewarming treat in hand and says gently:
"What a coincidence. I just moved to the central city too, so we can be neighbors again. I'm very happy."
Yuan Qingxue's mind blanks for a moment.
Huh?
How could the gentle monster neighbor he'd been so close to in the poor district, and had even quietly fallen for, be the terrifying, invincible boss from the original novel?
