Rumor Has It He Brings Nations to Ruin

Huo Xuan has been with his wife for four years. She seized him by force, buying the young beauty from his family, which was on the verge of collapse, with a single card.

His wife, Yang Ciyi, is a renowned financial titan in City A. She is of mixed heritage from four countries, exceptionally intelligent, reserved and reticent, a master strategist, and enormously wealthy. But only Huo Xuan knows that she spent a fortune on him and flew into a rage because he looks like her first love, her white moonlight. It sounds like a heartwarming love story, but in reality, their marriage is held together by nothing more than a contract.

People say Huo Xuan is a bewitching fox who brings ruin to the nation, that he has Yang Ciyi wrapped around his finger. She even bought him one of the rarest collector’s watches in the world. When Huo Xuan heard about it, he was diligently scrubbing Yang Ciyi’s shoes. Looking at his bare wrist, he was so angry he nearly died.

As it happens, his wife’s white moonlight is returning to the country, and Huo Xuan spots that very watch on her first love. His back teeth nearly crack from clenching. During a trip out to sea, someone sabotages him and he falls overboard. The waves wash him ashore, where he sits in a miserable heap, buffeted by the wind all night. No one comes looking for him. Huo Xuan throws away his ring and decides he’s done with this (though he secretly goes back and picks it up soon after).

After spending a few days fishing, he hears that his wife has gone crazy looking for him.

Huo Xuan glances up slightly: ...My wife’s gone crazy? I don’t believe it.

Then he suddenly discovers that his wife loves him very much.

An outwardly gentle and reserved seme who’s full of inner monologues, proper and virtuous in public but a foul-mouthed, resentful husband in private x a successful career woman who’s even more reserved, oblivious, and slow on the uptake than the seme

Just a plot bunny.
