I Was a Treacherous Minister

Ci Zhao had neither father nor mother, yet wielded immense power.

The powerful and influential in the capital both loved and hated him. They loved his skill at amassing wealth and hated how he was endlessly favored.

The impeaching memorials against him on the emperor's desk had piled up like a mountain, and every morning court session turned into a shouting match over him.

If the emperor did not punish Ci Zhao, the officials would bang their heads against the pillars to prove their resolve, prepared to die. If the emperor did punish him, those same officials would kneel and plead for mercy on his behalf.
