The Great Demon King Arrives at His Honmaru

A blunder by the government agency responsible for time travel threw the space-time continuum into disarray. Iruma arrived at the citadel ten years late, and the citadel he was supposed to take over had already fallen into darkness.

Government Agency: Until we find a way to send you back, please take on the role of Saniwa for the time being!

Iruma was someone who simply couldn't refuse when other people asked him for help.

Iruma, whose heart had been pierced by their "plea": ...O-okay!

And that was all.

So why had things turned out this way?

He'd only been sold by his parents to a demon to be his grandson. He'd only accidentally transmigrated to this fallen citadel. He'd only wanted to be an ordinary Saniwa...

So why had these fallen swords become so attached to him?

*

At their first meeting, a frail boy appeared in the forest. His spiritual power made them sick, yet with a wave of his hand, he knocked every sword down with flames.

At their next meeting, the boy had changed completely. Now he was a pushover who couldn't say no, and he called himself their Saniwa.

The sword spirits were wary and confused. "C-could this be the legendary split personality?"

A gentle master was undoubtedly the best medicine for the tsukumogami. Their wounds and despair were soothed, and the sword spirits gradually lost their malice, becoming like ordinary swords again.

As the days passed, they treated their master's longing to go home as nothing but an illusion. If he couldn't go back, wouldn't it be better for him to stay with them forever?

But then a demon tore open space, and an irresistible force swept through the citadel, forcibly taking their Saniwa away.

The tsukumogami's fingers trembled. Helplessness and stubborn resolve filled their already dark hearts.

...Why could he never be theirs?

They couldn't bear it.
