Seven-year age gap | Powerful man lowers his head | Pathological possessiveness

Brooding Jing City power broker x college student who falls for his looks

Duan Zhouting comes from a family of wealth and prestige. Carefully groomed by his powerful family to take charge, he sits at the top, far beyond anyone's reach.

He Zhi is an orphan. After being returned by several adoptive families, she grew up with Mother Lin at the orphanage.

Their worlds are so far apart that when He Zhi first announced she was going to pursue him, everyone laughed it off as a joke.

No one expected He Zhi to actually win Duan Zhouting over.

At the time, people in their circle were saying that the most proper and restrained member of the Duan family had taken a young mistress. The girl was considerate and knew her place, and Duan Zhouting cherished her like the apple of his eye.

Some even declared, "At this rate, even if Duan Zhouting really gets married, as long as the girl stays this obedient, it's entirely possible he'll keep her for the rest of his life."

No one expected the two to suddenly part ways.

He Zhi was the one who ended it. She had never intended for her relationship with Duan Zhouting to last.

After the breakup, He Zhi followed a teacher from the cultural relics restoration department straight to Tibet. A younger man pursued her eagerly, and she considered starting another relationship.

Duan Zhouting appeared on her way home after a date with the young man.

In an alley distinctively styled like those in Tibetan regions, before the sky had completely darkened, the tall, lean man's figure stood at the entrance. Cigarette butts were piled on the ground like a mountain.

Duan Zhouting wore a smile, but the fury in his beautiful, loveless eyes seemed ready to burst out.

"You've got some nerve, treating me like a dog."

He approached step by step, his smile sinister and chilling.

"And yet, this is exactly what gets to me."

"But, He Zhi, you can play with me, as long as you keep playing with me."

"You don't get to call it off."

Duan Zhouting knows He Zhi doesn't really love him.

Every word of affection, every declaration that she misses him, is honey laced with arsenic, coaxing him into surrendering and meeting his death.

He wants to see how long He Zhi can keep up that sham of an act.

He even knows he will definitely fall for her.

But so what?

As long as she can't escape and stays by his side,

Even false affection can last forever.

Reading guide:

2. The heroine studies cultural relic and ancient architecture restoration. The program name and the settings for the cultural relics, historic architecture, and restoration institute are all fictional, so there's no need to fact-check them.

3. This is quite melodramatic, with many dramatic love-rival scenes.

4. There are many male side characters around the heroine. Please avoid if that bothers you!
