01
In a wasteland apocalypse overrun by zombies, the side effect of overusing a mental-type ability is severe mental confusion.
But what do you call kidnapping a living person and sleeping with him?
In the pitch-dark gloom, where nothing had a clear outline, Jiang Zhao eyed the muscular man buried in the blankets beside the bed.
She decisively leaned down, bit the back of his neck, and left a mental imprint, marking him as her possession.
Before leaving, she looked back again, reluctant to go, and silently rated him:
Number one on the must-eat list.
02
Before the zombie horde arrived, Jiang Zhao picked a nearby base to lie low. But before she could settle in for two minutes, she was assigned a defensive mission.
She looked at the walkie-talkie in her hand, ready to drop it and walk away.
“Ji Jun. Your captain.”
Jiang Zhao turned at the sound of his voice, meeting the tall, broad figure standing in the shadows.
Broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long, mantis-like legs, every inch outlined beneath his taut clothes.
Looking higher, she saw his buzz cut, thin lips, and brows that shadowed his eyes. A glaring cross-shaped scar rested at the corner of his mouth. What a face, enough to whet anyone's appetite.
The man pressed his lips together without a word, his dark phoenix eyes bearing down on her. He was far more intimidating than the lunatics who were always yelling about killing people.
Jiang Zhao silently moved her gaze away from his lower half.
Where did this sexy, resentful husband come from?
Seeing him hold out his hand to take the walkie-talkie, Jiang Zhao deliberately misread his intention. She placed her hand in his warm, broad palm instead, her fingertips affectionately brushing the back of his hand.
She saw a hint of astonishment and bashfulness rise in his eyes.
Jiang Zhao clicked her tongue.
So he was a pure-hearted, resentful husband too.
03
A resentful husband's charms were truly something.
He was a bit wooden and old-fashioned, and always picked fights with her and went against her no matter the occasion. But he had a face that could tempt anyone. Tease him a little, and he softened, letting her coax and trick him back to her room.
Jiang Zhao contentedly left the dazed Ji Jun behind, kindly shaking the vines clean of their juices for him before efficiently packing up and running off.
She climbed the base's perimeter wall and had just landed on the other side when a string of stumbling footsteps came from behind.
Jiang Zhao calmly stood up and dusted off her sleeves. Without turning around, she said, “What a coincidence. Out on patrol?”
She was about to make a getaway when someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Then came a low, hoarse voice from behind her, filled with grievance and frustration.
“You take what you want and run every time. Don't you want to take responsibility?”
Ding
The mental imprint answered from behind her.
