The Imperial Exams Are a Piece of Cake

Sheng Qiuya blinked and found himself transformed into a tiny-legged child of seven or eight in ancient times, fleeing a famine.

To escape the fate of becoming food for two-legged predators, he hurried along on his little legs, keeping close to the refugee procession.

At first, no one in the group paid him any mind. In these times, there were too many people without homes, and they could barely look after themselves.

But this child led them to dig up poisonous taro and turn it into konjac, gather unknown leaves and make jelly, and identify bamboo that held water...

The group managed to make it all the way to a village established by the imperial court, all thanks to this little boy.

The villagers came to regard him as a child blessed with good fortune.

Once they had settled in, the villagers discussed it and decided to grit their teeth and pool the whole village's resources to send the boy to school, as repayment for his kindness.

They never expected that the boy would have extraordinary talent, never forget anything he read, and pass the imperial examinations all the way to the emperor's court.

When the villagers looked back, they saw that the rows of houses, straight roads, and flourishing crops in their village had all come from the boy.

He wasn't a child blessed with good fortune. He was fortune itself.
