He Zhi Hai used to be just an ordinary employee in the "Ex-Boyfriend Roleplay Group," or at least that's what he thought.
He played the protagonist's ex-boyfriend, a vain, promiscuous, mercenary, and insincere character.
It wasn't hard for He Zhi Hai. He just had to meet and fall in love with the protagonist from the beginning, before he had a chance to grow, then betray him cruelly for some reason. That would complete the mission.
As for the consequences of going against the protagonist, he would simply die horribly, just like in the original plot. He Zhi Hai didn't care.
But it seemed someone else cared a great deal.
One day, the System found He Zhi Hai, who had already retired, and explained the situation.
"The protagonists in the missions you did as a newbie all turned dark. The world plots keep throwing errors, and other mission-takers get kicked out soon after entering. We're really out of options."
The agency had helped He Zhi Hai a lot in the past, and he didn't mind going back to deal with the problem, but...

So much time had passed that He Zhi Hai could no longer remember the details of those missions.

At last, the protagonist realized that what he truly wanted wasn't revenge. It was He Zhi Hai himself.
He had lost him forever, and he went completely mad.
Then one day, when he opened his eyes again, he found himself back on the day before He Zhi Hai's death.
He Zhi Hai had forgotten him? He still hated him?
It didn't matter. He would lock him away somewhere only he could enter and fill every space He Zhi Hai went with surveillance cameras. Everything he touched would pass through his hands. He would make He Zhi Hai feel his presence in every possible way.
He would cling to He Zhi Hai forever, like a ghost.
