Xu Xize says nothing, just keeps smiling.)

"This tree is actually pink," I say earnestly, pointing at the willow outside the window.

Xu Xize nods. "So that's your favorite color? But I think that lake-blue one looks prettier."

"The air is actually liquid, and humans have gills too. They're just hidden somewhere unknown inside our bodies."

"I believe you," Xu Xize says with a smile. "No wonder that turtle in the wishing pond outside the hospital always seemed so familiar."

"I want to make this world explode," I say, leaning closer, my voice soft but earnest. "I'm not joking. There's a bug in this world's program, which is why we have termination codes like illness, death, and crime."

"I believe you."

Xu Xize moves closer, and I can almost feel his breath.

"I look forward to the day you take me to the end."

A lunatic. What a lunatic.

Damn, he's even crazier than I am.

"One more thing..."

"Actually, you and I have been married for three lifetimes. This is only our second life, right?" I softly breathe against his eyes, tracing circles on his chest with my finger.

Xu Xize falls silent, then runs out of the room, blushing and stumbling.

I finally burst out laughing.

So the days I thought were sweet had been nothing but a lie.

"Do you think I'm a lunatic too?" I stare at Xu Xize with red-rimmed eyes.

Xu Xize says nothing. Suddenly, he grabs my hand and runs out of the house with me.

"Where are you taking me?"

"To the fireworks factory."

Xu Xize turns and smiles at me. Beneath the pink sunlight, he glows.

"To buy fireworks big enough to destroy the world."
