The Lackey

Xie Jian, the founding regent of Great Yan, wore the face of a Buddha but had the heart of a snake. His cunning was almost demonic.

By nature, he was bloodthirsty and murderous, skilled at manipulating people's hearts and stirring up trouble. As a youth, he made the world his chessboard and set in motion the century-long empires of Yan and Chu. At twenty-seven, he grew tired of it all and died of illness.

Four hundred years later, he awoke in the body of a descendant from a collateral branch of the family, who shared his name.

The Xie family was ambitious, intent on restoring its former glory, but he had no desire to play the same old game a second time. He found it all dreadfully dull.

Until one night, returning from beyond the city, he ran into the last surviving member of the Chu family, fleeing with a fortune in tow.

Chu Yunlan was the little emperor chosen by the great clans.

But before she became emperor, she slaughtered pigs at the market. By the time they found her, she'd been at it for ten years.

Her heart was colder than her butcher's knife.

She wanted no part of being emperor. All she wanted was to save some money, buy herself a few handsome men, and live quietly until she was ninety-nine.

She was greedy, lustful, timid as a mouse, and couldn't even read.

Every day as emperor, she dreamed of absconding with a fortune and heading out among the common people to keep eight or ten lovers and live it up.

She tried to escape a hundred times, and was caught every time.

Disheartened, Chu Yunlan decided to die and start over. Who could have guessed that the bloodthirsty tyrant, a beauty so stunning she inspired erotic dreams, would suddenly undo her own belt in front of her?

"Didn't you want to defile me? Here's your chance."

And so she became the beautiful tyrant's lackey.
