With the Spring Breeze

Qin Xiang comes from Medicine King Valley. As the heir to the Classic of a Hundred Herbs, she hears this from her father on the day she comes of age at sixteen.

Before her grandfather retired from the world, he arranged a marriage for her.

Her fiancé is Xie Lin, the eldest legitimate grandson of the Xie family, the foremost clan in the land.

They say Xie Lin is as handsome as a jade tree, extraordinarily talented, and gentle-tempered. He is every woman's dream husband.

Qin Xiang secretly rejoices. She has struck gold.

But when she arrives at the Xie residence, she learns she was deceived.

Xie Lin is not gentle at all.

He is arrogant and domineering, sharp-tongued and cruel-hearted, and he is both blind and crippled.

Qin Xiang meekly sticks needles into him and draws out his poison, silently swearing that she will run away as soon as she cures him.

The jade-faced King of Hell, Regent Zhou Yunjian, is forced by circumstances to recuperate at his friend Xie Lin's residence for a time.

While Xie Lin is away on business, his fiancée from the countryside comes calling.

Xie Lin seems gentle but is actually the most cold-hearted of all. The Xie family's prized heir naturally won't acknowledge an old marriage arrangement made over a decade ago.

As it happens, that country girl is blind and foolish enough to mistake him for someone else.

Xie Lin asks Zhou Yunjian to humor her and send her away.

Zhou Yunjian is bored from being ill, so he agrees to do his friend this favor.
