Marrying the Man Who Works the Fields After a Marriage Swap [Period]

[Don't read yet, I'm planning a major rewrite]

Xie Qingzhi woke up in the countryside of Republican-era China in 1919, as the eldest daughter of a wealthy landowner. The original owner had been schemed against by her stepmother, who wanted to steal her marriage to her cousin.

The transmigrated Xie Qingzhi simply went along with it and turned the plot against them: Marry her cousin? The Qing Dynasty had been gone for ages. Whoever wanted to jump into that pit could go ahead.

Sure enough, her stepmother suggested a bride swap, sending her younger sister Xie Lanzhi to marry the wealthy cousin in her place, while Xie Qingzhi was to marry Cheng Tianci, a man who worked the fields with a hoe.

Xie Qingzhi's take: Just because the marriage got swapped doesn't mean life can't get even better! Why make yourself miserable? Why turn down wealth and benefits handed right to you?!

Not only would she take them, she'd find every possible way to ask for more!

Who cares what this or that person thinks? She'd get it all into her own hands!

Everyone said Xie Qingzhi had drawn the short straw. The Cheng family was so poor they could barely afford to eat, and the second son, Cheng Tianci, was just a quiet, honest man who spent all day hoeing fields. She'd be lucky if she didn't have to live on cornbread for the rest of her life.

Xie Qingzhi looked at her handsome contract husband, who was excellent with his hands, then at the rest of the family:

Her sickly eldest brother, Tianxiang, was never without a book and had a photographic memory.

Her honest third brother, Tianrui, was strong enough to lift a giant cauldron and quick as a leopard.

Her clever younger sister, Tiantian, could work out complicated sums with ease.

What kind of poor little hovel was this? It was a hidden den of talent! They were all born to work for her!

From then on, she and her team of workers (not really) went from catching cicada nymphs to sell for money to raising goats, opening a livestock farm and a mutton soup shop, and planting orchards across a hundred mu...

Later, her eldest brother became a leader in the New Learning movement, her third brother a mighty general, and her younger sister joined a secret research institute...

Somehow, they turned a miserable rural life into one of prosperity and wealth.
