The Snake God's Bride [Funeral Pyre]

It is said that the Yi family of Lingzhou can communicate with ghosts and gods, but in return, they must offer a new bride to the Snake God every eighteen years.

Yi Mian struggles with all her might to escape this fate. Then, when she turns eighteen, her fiancee dies at the hands of the Imperial Preceptor while trying to steal a rare treasure that can kill the Snake God for her.

On a stormy day, after ten days of decline, she arrives at the snake's lair covered in blood and dressed in her wedding gown, and opens the seal.

"-- I offer myself to you. All I ask is that you help me take revenge and become the greatest sorceress in the world."

In the darkness, a pair of strange, scarlet eyes lights up.

Yi Mian is not afraid of the snake demon's cold scales. She gently strokes the bloodthirsty, cruel eyes of the demon and entwines herself with it day and night, demanding without restraint.

The snake demon Teng Yexue has been lonely for a thousand years. She grips the human girl's chin and gazes at her with bloodthirsty eyes. "Aren't you afraid of me?"

Yi Mian covers her cold heart with tender, close kisses. "How could I be afraid of you when I love you so much, my lord?"

The demon, cold and lonely for a thousand years and on the verge of nirvana, unexpectedly falls in love in that moment.

Until, on the night of the new moon, Teng Yexue crushes the Imperial Preceptor's soul, only to be stabbed through the heart from behind.

Only then does Teng Yexue understand why Yi Mian loved kissing her heart. It turns out that cutting out the bitter gallbladder can bring her beloved back from the dead.

On the night of the new moon, thunder shakes the world, and a thousand miles of land turn to scorched earth.

People look up at the sky and finally realize that dragons exist in this world.

--

After surviving her trial of love and undergoing nirvana, Teng Yexue decides that her former desire to remain in the human world for the sake of a mortal was truly foolish.

She returns to the demon realm to rule, and never sets foot in the human world again.

Until one day, a pit viper beside her tells her that a human sorceress beneath the Immortal Mountain has broken through the divide between humans and demons, crossed the Uncrossable Sea, and fought her way to the End of Thought.

She has come to see her, carrying a heart in her hands.

But Teng Yexue suddenly recalls their last meeting, and that cool, detached voice.

"-- How could this beast have a heart? It's nothing but a bitter gallbladder."

The snake is the pursuer, and the snake is the top!
