The band had hit a standstill. Word was, bassist Lin Zeshui had driven the drummer away.
Not long after, a transfer student showed up in the rehearsal room with drumsticks in hand, announcing that she was the new drummer.
"I'm Mai Qi. You can call me Mai Mai!"
She introduced herself with a smile, though she didn't exactly look like a rock musician.
At first, Lin Zeshui paid her no mind. Then he couldn't help noticing her. In the end, he was always jealous.
He hated her sunny disposition, her musical talent, and her eyes that were always smiling.
So he began avoiding Mai Qi.
Unexpectedly, Mai Qi came right up to him, blinking with a pitiful look in her eyes.
"I don't think things between us should be like this anymore.
If you're open to it, should we try changing that?"
Her heartfelt confession was so sincere it was almost embarrassing.
Lin Zeshui didn't know how to turn her down, so he reluctantly agreed to date her.
Their 100-day anniversary
Lin Zeshui booked a restaurant to celebrate, with cake, candlelight, flowers, and music.
Mai Qi took a bite of the cake and asked in confusion, "Why are you suddenly treating me to dinner?"
"It's our dating anniversary," he said, pursing his lips.
"You and me?"
"Since when?"
"How come I didn't know?"
Mai Qi licked the cream and stared at him, wide-eyed.
The band stalled once again. Word was, the drummer had dumped the bassist.
