I Don't Know, My Roommate's Cat Is So Enchanting

Bai Luo was browsing rental listings on a platform when he found a place that perfectly matched what he was looking for.

The rent was cheap, the location was convenient, and the roommate covered the internet and property fees. During their conversation, the roommate asked just one question:

Would you mind if there were a cat in the apartment?

Bai Luo quickly said he didn't mind and successfully moved into his new home.

His new roommate was a mystery. A month after moving in, Bai Luo had only ever contacted them by phone. The enormous apartment seemed to be home to only him and a cat.

The cat was very clever. It could operate the automatic feeder, bury its own litter, and even go online to chat with the roommate.

Go online, and chat with the roommate.

Looking at the roommate's selfie for a profile picture, Bai Luo realized it wasn't a picture of a beloved pet. The cat was using the internet under its own name.

So here's the question: if your roommate is a cat, is it illegal to pet it?
