He was always being teased by her.
When the girl was fifteen, she shot an arrow across the river and hit him in the chest. The blunt-tipped arrow fell to the ground, and a handkerchief landed on his head.
She called from the other bank, "What a handsome young man!"
When the girl was sixteen, she turned the words he had written her into a song and performed it at her birthday banquet.
When people asked about it, she made no effort to hide the truth. "It's a love song! My sweetheart wrote it for me."
Everyone burst into an uproar.
He hid away where there were fewer people and drank tea, barely able to suppress his smile!
When the girl was seventeen, she failed the imperial examinations and was mocked. She kicked over the mocker's table and shouted, "You passed, did you? It only took you three hundred years to pass. Aren't you proud!"
He could only rub his forehead helplessly and quietly pay for the table and chairs behind her.
Outside, he smiled and said, "That's what I like about you. When you're angry, you let it out right away instead of bottling it up until you get home."
Her old-fashioned mother chose a fine match for her. Her husband-to-be was the ruler of the Underworld, the only immortal in all the world.
She ran away from the wedding.
On the way, she ran into the young man, dressed in wedding robes and coming to meet her.
She was delighted, thinking he had heard the news and come to elope with her.
He looked wronged. "I put on my wedding robes and waited for you to come marry me, only to hear that you'd run away."
Yun Su was startled. "It's you!"
The handsome young man asked, "Not running away anymore?"
Yun Su: "I'm running!"
He: ?
Yun Su: "I won't just go along with her because she meant well, even if things turned out badly. I want my mother to understand that I get to make decisions about my own life!"
She declared her grand ambition, then turned to the handsome young man. "Are you running away too? I can take you with me."
He said, "I am. As it happens, I have business to take care of in the mortal realm."
And so, on their wedding day, the bride and groom ran away together.

[Extra Scene]
At the inn, Yun Su stood by the door with her hands behind her back and said irritably, "I'm sorry. I didn't know you were the ruler."
Yun Su: Let me explain. I didn't tell you to kneel to humiliate you. I just felt it was easier to talk that way.
Li Junfan: Mm, I know.
Yun Su: I didn't mean it when I said we should stop being friends.
Li Junfan: Mm, I know.
Yun Su: I didn't mean it when I said there was something wrong with your head. I was just talking nonsense.
Li Junfan: Mm, I know.
Yun Su racked her brain, trying to think of anything else she'd done to offend him. It seemed like there was nothing else?
But then, that evening...
Yun Su: Never mind. You should kneel over here and talk to me. Otherwise, I have to keep looking up at you.
Li Junfan: Oh, okay.

Six years ago, Wu Ciyan rescued a rabbit that was about to be thrown into a pot at a banquet. When they met again six years later, the rabbit wouldn't leave him alone.
She kept saying she wanted to repay his kindness, over and over.
But what she actually did was demand, over and over, that he marry her.
Wu Ciyan: What exactly are you following me around for?
The rabbit blinked. "To repay your kindness!"
Wu Ciyan: Give me a break! You just saw that I was handsome and got ideas.
Wherever he went, she followed. Even when he returned to his snake den to shed his skin, she insisted on watching.
Wu Ciyan bared his fangs at her. "If you don't leave, I'll eat you."
The rabbit wrapped her arms around his fangs. "Marry me and I'll leave."
Wu Ciyan had no choice but to marry her.
But the day after their wedding night, the rabbit had vanished, leaving behind only a note: I've repaid my debt! Goodbye!
Wu Ciyan furiously crumpled the note. "She dresses up being overcome by lust as repayment for a favor! I'm so mad!"
Yet in less than half a month, the rabbit came running back. She peeked in through the doorway, looking at him pitifully.
Wu Ciyan: What do you want?
The rabbit: It felt really good last time. Could we... do it again?
Wu Ciyan: ...
