(Studying the original novel right now, but I'm having a little trouble figuring some things out, so I'm taking a short break before continuing.)
You are an utterly ordinary resident of Gotham.
Even as a child, you knew there might be something very wrong with this world.
You push open your apartment door and hear your neighbors discussing the murder that just happened in the building. You walk into your classroom and there's a chance you'll find a bomb in the corner.
During break, your eighteenth classmate calls you out of the room and tells you that under no circumstances should you come to school tomorrow.
On your way home after calling the police, you step into a pool of blood in an alley yet again, and lock eyes with the killer standing amid the remains of the people.
You: ...
In this perilous world, you do everything you can to survive.
Over time, having seen every kind of disguise, you become adept at identifying people by instinct, seeing through every disguise and superpower. You can spot Clayface, who just changed his face, from a hundred meters away.
Having stumbled into crime scenes in alleys so often, you become adept at impersonating wanted criminals. You can stand in a crime scene littered with corpses and chat breezily with the underworld, exuding an air of effortless cool.
After being forced to become a hostage time and again, you learn to dodge bullets with ease. As the criminals holding you gasp in astonishment, you achieve a perfect bullet-grazing record every single time...
Today, with your encyclopedic knowledge of this city's specialties, you are lucky enough to witness the Bat-family beating the Arkham fan club from start to finish.
Oh, right, you also happen to know a thing or two about how to confess your love.
Once everything is over, you can confidently tell the vigilantes, with whom you've already established a friendship: I love you.
After an ordinary person like you somehow became the vigilantes' closest friend, you once again happened to pass by as they pored over the Batcomputer. That's when you saw the surveillance footage playing on the screen.
In the footage, a young man carrying a briefcase strolls to the head of a long table, watched in awe by Gotham's underworld.
You: What are you looking at?
Isn't that me?

"Nightwing, wait..."
"You're saying the leader of a mysterious force that's recently been growing at an unstoppable rate is me?"
"The one who supposedly made Black Mask concede a share of the profits, and even has the Joker showing him respect, is me?"
"And that annoying guy you've all been cursing out lately is me too?"
The big blue bird gave an affirmative smile.
You: ...
Am I still just a passerby? Where the hell have I ended up?
Notes: 1. Highlighted point: no CP, first-person narration, and above all, a serious tone! The love mentioned is simply love for heroes, though there's the occasional bit of fanservice (sunglasses).
2. The protagonist really is just an ordinary passerby, but has maxed-out emotional intelligence. Silver hair, green eyes, and the personality of a big dog. The main story follows his career as he struggles to survive in Gotham and eventually becomes a big shot despite being a nobody. There are lots of foreshadowing and plot setups, original plots and characters, and plenty of characters misunderstanding the situation and overestimating him.
3. A little bit of everything: DC, American Horror Story, Criminal Minds, and more.
4. Created on 2025.4.17.
Next book: [Western Fantasy] Player, So I Was the Savior All Along. Blurb:
Mu Qu is a veteran gamer.
One day, he opens a game called Savior Hotline.
In this game, players take on the role of a savior, regularly receiving and completing people's prayer requests.
Becoming a savior might seem childish to an elementary school student, but it's just right for an adult.
So Mu Qu confidently answers one of the requests: "Hello, you've reached the Savior Assistance Hotline. How can I help you?"
On the other end of the line, a battered woman stares at the pool of blood in front of her. The instant she hears his voice, the despair in her eyes gives way to hope. "Yes, I need help!"
#
Ever since entering the game, Mu Qu has felt that something is off.
When the player helps a dying leader cross half a continent and fend off wave after wave of attacks,
the bloodstained young man looks at him with a complicated expression. "You always remind me of my dear friend who died."
When the player disguises himself as a student at a magic academy who's being hunted down, then proceeds to rule the school,
the academy's strictest headmaster studies his notes for a long time. "Your handwriting is exactly like that of my most outstanding student."
After the player helps a girl looking for her grandfather escape danger and expertly takes down a boss in seconds,
the captain of the expedition team stares at him through tears. "You're so much like my teacher, who's already dead."
Mu Qu: ?
This game has story missions too?
Meanwhile, his exploration of the game world grows ever deeper.
Mu Qu gradually discovers a memorial hall dedicated to him in the capital of a foreign country, and a statue with a face exactly like his inside a White Tower that worships no gods. His name is in the children's textbooks, and the songs bards wrote for him have spread through every street and alley...
Later, during an ordinary mission,
one glance is all it takes for someone to push through the packed crowd and seize his hand, holding on as if their life depended on it.
"Mu Qu... No, our Savior." The blue-eyed ruler of a neighboring country takes a deep breath. "Welcome home."
Mu Qu: Wait...
Aren't I a player? How am I the Savior?
Notes: 1. The protagonist is the shou. He's confident, handsome, and a total B-king. Brown hair, green eyes, and the strongest person in the whole story, without exception.
2. One-on-one romance. The love interest is Ha Yeda. Everyone else is purely a friend, but an exceptionally close one.
3. I just love the whole "After ten years, the Savior has returned!" trope. The author's tastes are firmly in the kids' channel section.
4. A mix of many genres, including but not limited to monster-fighting, daily life at a magic school, and a grand tour of the world's cuisines...
Theme: The person you want to see will come running to you.
