One is a half-youkai girl, the daughter of a nekomata and a human. Neither pure-blooded youkai nor humans accept or love her, and she drifts between this world and the next.

The other is the eldest son of an exorcist family, a genius with powerful spiritual energy. He lives by the creed "Those who aren't one of us can never be trusted," and wields a spirit blade to cut down every strange being.

The first time they met, it was raining. The boy drove off the youkai that had been chasing her with a single swing of his spirit blade, and the girl became acquainted with him all on her own.

The second time they met, it was raining again. She was badly wounded by a youkai and had lost a tail. She was hiding in a street corner, close to death, when the youngest daughter of the Minamoto family found her, took her home, named her Minamoto Angel, and raised her.

The third time they met, it was still raining. She had left the Minamoto family and, with help from her parents' friends, enrolled at Seagull Academy. Then she came face-to-face with the boy in human form in the hallway.

Her fur was standing on end, okay?!

Friend One: Rin-chan's hair is the same color as Minamoto-senpai's.

Minazuki Rin: Nene, don't make things up. Mine is platinum blonde! It's totally different from gold, okay?!

A few thoughts:

I was devastated by the swimming-pool chapter in the manga, then got devastated all over again when the anime came out. So this story follows an alternate timeline, with the premise that everyone goes to school together after the main story ends. It's an everyday school-life story.
