An Idol, but a Tennis Prodigy

Ichitani Yunse is an idol famous throughout Japan.

In his first year of middle school, his classmates played basketball, tennis, and volleyball, while Ichitani Yunse turned down every invitation to join a sports club.

He chose to debut as an idol.

Ichitani Yunse thought he would never join a sports club in his life, until his manager signed him up for an idol sports festival performance without telling him and entered him in a tennis tournament.

Ichitani Yunse, who knew nothing about ball sports, felt the sky come crashing down.

His manager said gravely, "If you don't want to embarrass yourself at the idol sports festival, you still have time to join the tennis club."

His vision went dark, and he could only meekly submit an application to join the tennis club.

Sanada Genichiro was initially a little hesitant about taking on a complete beginner halfway through the year.

But Yanagi Renji convinced him with one sentence.

"With Ichitani Yunse on our team, do you really think we won't get sponsors?"

Sanada Genichiro understood. Ichitani Yunse was the tennis club's lucky cat!

Against all expectations, the pretty-boy lucky cat turned out to be an athletic genius.

It took Ichitani Yunse just one month to go from warming the bench as a substitute to becoming a regular.

At the prefectural tournament, every match Ichitani Yunse played in drew a massive crowd. His fan merchandise could be found within a five-hundred-meter radius of the venue.

Inside the venue, fan photographers with giant cameras claimed the best spots, capturing "Ichitani Yunse focus fancams" from start to finish.

The national tournament was even more outrageous. Ichitani Yunse was the face of the sponsors, his name was printed on the cheering flags outside the venue, and even the giant posters inside featured him.

Wherever he went, he was the center of attention. Even students from rival schools waved flags and cheered for him.

His stage had changed from the concert platform to the tennis court.

After winning the national tournament, Ichitani Yunse was interviewed by a reporter.

"At first, I just didn't want to lose to anyone at the idol sports festival. I never expected to win the national tournament."

"What? Are you asking whether I'll prepare a performance for the Red and White Song Festival next?"

Ichitani Yunse answered seriously.

"No. My next goal is to win the idol sports festival two years in a row."

Reporter: "?"
