If you asked me what I regretted most in my life, I'd answer without hesitation: "I got curious about a rumor going around school and went exploring in the hills behind it on a whim, and ended up accidentally waking the slumbering Demon King."
The Demon King was handsome, tall, and had the white hair and red eyes that were exactly my type.
But he was a total psycho.
The day I woke him, the Demon King forced me to make a contract with him and left a mark on me. He said that if I didn't want to die, I had to date him for the next hundred days, or the mark would take my life.
To stay alive, I had no choice but to bring the Demon King home and work diligently to brainwash myself into thinking we were a couple. Then I went a little too far with the self-brainwashing and, when the Demon King had one of his episodes, couldn't stop myself from slapping him.
When my senses returned, I thought I was done for. But the Demon King glanced at me, then deliberately pressed his other cheek against my palm, looking pleased.
"Angry? Why not slap the other side, too?"
Me: "..."
So this is what being a psycho is like? I see.

As time passed, I came to understand the Demon King better.
He was belligerent, hypocritical, sly, and cold-blooded. He was silver-tongued and ruthless, said one thing and meant another, and always managed to infuriate me.
I also kept wondering if he had some kind of special preference.
Like wearing a choker and putting the other end of the leash in my hand, leaning on my shoulder and calling me Master, or making me sit on the table while he knelt in front of me...
I couldn't tell when it started, but I fell for the Demon King for real. By the time I realized it, there was only one short week left before the hundred-day deadline.
And before I could figure out how to make the Demon King stay, trouble found me first. I knew for certain that I would die because of it.
The Demon King wouldn't let me hide anything from him, and I'd never hidden anything from him before. But this time, I lied and told him I was going on a school field trip and might be gone for a long time. I hoped he could end the game early and remove the mark.
The Demon King agreed, but just as I was about to die, he appeared before me and saved me.

For a very, very long time, the Demon King had been waiting for the person destined for him. She was the sole meaning of his existence. Without her, he would rather remain asleep.
Tens of thousands of years passed in a flash. The Demon King opened his eyes in the darkness, and the first thing he saw was the familiar face he had longed for. He smiled softly, drew her close, and sealed a mark with a kiss.
It wasn't a mark that brought death. Anyone bearing it would have all their injuries transferred to him. After waiting so long for this human, the Demon King would never let her die so easily.
[I've finally found you.]
The Demon King's gaze stayed fixed on the human as he pressed his face against her palm, sighing inwardly.
[Even if I only have a hundred days left to live.]
