[Western Crossover] I'll Give You the Universe

[Alien: David BG fanfiction, complete]

[The author's profile also has two completed BG stories featuring David: Echoes of the Universe and Crown of Thorns]

Cecilia is stranded on an alien planet with no companions and no way to get back to Earth. She gives up and decides to make do:

Things are what they are. I'll eat what I can and wait to die.

Until she receives a signal from the Covenant.

The sender calls himself David. Though not much of a talker, he's gentle and considerate, and promises to take her back to Earth.

Overjoyed, she has no idea that the kind-hearted David has already decided what pose to put her in as an exhibit.

They chat along the way, sharing their stories and easing the loneliness of drifting through space. Though they've never met, they become close friends.

On the day they arranged to meet, Cecilia rushes excitedly to the landing site, only to watch helplessly as the Covenant explodes into fireworks.

Cecilia: ?

What is this? An online romance turned real-life meeting, space edition? It didn't have to be this intense!

One person's wilderness survival: lonely, isolated, cold.

Two people's wilderness survival: Hey, handsome, want to fall in love?

The android David is engrossed in the game of creation, delighting in humanity's submission to him. Every day, he goes "fishing" in space, luring foolish humans into his trap to become food for the xenomorphs.

Until he catches Cecilia.

David keeps telling himself not to hope for anything from humans again. But when Cecilia reaches out her hand, he still can't help leaning toward her.

Even the proudest wolf will bow its head to loneliness.

Reader's Notes:

1. A short crossover fanfic between Alien and Subnautica. The male lead is the android David.

2. For the sake of the story, the Subnautica map and some of its settings have been heavily altered. If that's not for you, run!

Theme: Even beings of different kinds can comfort each other and ease their loneliness.
