Xie Qinshi, what gives you the right to look down on me? You were born standing at the top of the mountain. Does that mean you can look down on me for climbing up from the bottom to level ground?

I have nothing. I got where I am today on my own. I work hard, earn money with everything I've got, and try to live a decent life. What did I do wrong?

What gives you the right to sit in judgment from your lofty position, looking at me with those filthy eyes?

Do you know how hard I had to fight, all by myself, just to make it to Fancheng and get where I am today?

Xie Qinshi watched Liang Feiyue slap at his chest in a frenzy. He gripped her thin shoulders, his expression as controlled as ever.

Xie Qinshi knew he hadn't been entirely honest about this relationship. He truly disapproved of many of Liang Feiyue's choices. She was right: he liked being with her. To put it plainly, he liked her body.

But it seemed the time had come to end this relationship, which had never been founded on pure intentions in the first place.

It was as if a great hole had been torn in the moon inside Liang Feiyue's heart. Darkness gnawed at her, like a celestial dog devouring her heart.

Tears streamed down her face, and she laughed. "You agree we should end things? Xie Qinshi, let me tell you, I'm a hell of a lot more upright than you are. At least I wouldn't sleep with someone while looking down on her. I wouldn't use filthy thoughts to slander someone who's working hard to make a life for herself. So now I'm telling you: we're over."

"Liang Feiyue, you'd better think carefully! When I say it's over, I mean it's over for good."

The door slammed shut.

Theme: Climbing from the bottom to level ground is an achievement, too.
