The Soccer Star

Pang Di started playing soccer simply to give her parents a better life. Later, she fell in love with the sport. And later still, she realized she had long since come to love soccer as deeply as she loved life.

Pang Di: When I was little, a sunny, cheerful older brother who was volunteering as a teacher left a clue in my heart about the true meaning of soccer. When I finally met him again at the peak of my career, I realized he was no longer the simple boy who used to find joy in playing soccer. I like you, but I won't give up the soccer I love for you. Thank you for giving me hope for all the good things soccer could bring. Maybe you don't know this, but that seed helped me discover the truth of my love for soccer in the years that followed. There is more to pursue in life than love. Now I want to keep pursuing what I love. I won't stop for you, just as you only stayed briefly in my life one summer all those years ago. But this time, I can hold my head high and say to you: Goodbye.

Gao Qingyu: My wife only fell in love with soccer because of me, and yet she ended up loving soccer more than she loves me. Damn it, soccer stole the top spot in my wife's heart! President Gao paid a heavy price for his arrogance and stubbornness. If I'd known that trip to experience life would lead me to my future wife, how could young and clueless me have focused only on playing soccer? Later, my wife worked hard to meet me by making it onto the pitch watched by the whole world (not really). But I was still too young and kept making one stupid mistake after another. I apologize for being shallow and ignorant. From now on, I'll be the one chasing after her.
