Why Is Officer Matsuda Like This?

[Drafting / Blurb to be decided]

(The commissioned horizontal illustration only fits one person on the cover. I'm waiting for Nunu to finish so I can add the other person and make it a two-person photo. For now, I'm using the middle section as the cover.)

The first day Sambuca started working in Beika, he lost his memory and became a suspect in a case. He also fell in love at first sight with Detective Matsuda, who was examining the corpse of his mission target.

Amid the System's piercing alarms inside his head, the two of them smoothly exchanged contact information.

The bad news: Matsuda is married, and his biological child is already six years old.

The good news: Detective Matsuda and his alpha partner are going through the seven-year itch, so Sambuca can pursue him with perfect propriety.

The even worse news: Officer Matsuda is only getting close to him because he can't forget his childhood friend, who died seven years ago, and is determined to avenge his late husband.

The even better news: The clues point to the organization Sambuca works for, and Sambuca wants it destroyed too. Now they have a shared topic they can talk about for a long, long time!

News that may or may not be good: Sambuca discovers that he is Hagiwara Kenji, Matsuda Jinpei's childhood friend and late husband, who died seven years ago.

Hagiwara Kenji himself has no idea that he is a dead husband.

Notes:

1. Hagiwara Kenji (Sambuca) x Matsuda Jinpei. A typical alpha-omega pairing, 1v1, no pairings changed or reversed. They have only ever had flirtatious interactions with each other. Their relationship makes major progress after Matsuda realizes Sambuca's true identity. Before the identity reveal, most of the story is about them wrestling with their feelings and convincing themselves of things.

2. A melodramatic extravaganza featuring ABO, pregnancy, faked death, amnesia, misunderstandings, and stand-ins, in which the author lets loose. Read with caution, and the child really is biological. [Emphasis added.]

3. The ABO setting is a personal take. The basic designations are only alpha, beta, and omega, with no extra letters. Any relevant details will be explained in the author's notes.

4. Includes misunderstandings about the pair's relationship. The red and black factions are working from different scripts.

Theme: Have the courage to pursue the one you love
