Peacock Terrace

Lan Yueling was born in a border town south of the Yin Mountains, on the northern bank of the Yellow River.

The Xiongnu lay to the north, and the Yellow River to the south. Warfare and floods were common, and simply surviving was no easy feat.

It truly wasn't easy. By the time she was fifteen, her entire family was dead, and she had no relatives left.

Even so, she'd never considered leaving.

--

Perhaps Heaven took pity on her. When she was sixteen, a distant cousin suddenly arrived at her home, seeking refuge.

Her cousin paid for lodging, and the two of them looked after each other. For a while, it seemed life was getting better again.

Until... her cousin died too.

He was killed while trying to save her.

That day, Lan Yueling sat for a long time before her cousin's grave, then gave a scornful laugh.

Fate was always like this.

Whenever she thought she was about to have a good life, something went wrong.

But it was fine. There was nothing that couldn't be dealt with. At worst, she would lose her life.

She rose to her feet, slung a butcher's knife over her shoulder, and resolutely set off for Chang'an to avenge her cousin.

[The story begins after the heroine is imprisoned for killing someone to avenge her cousin.]

[I'm terrible at writing blurbs and keep revising this. It's probably a story about a country-bred peacock queen charging into Chang'an and the Yellow River region.]

[The romance is a reincarnation story. The male and female leads have past and present lives, and the male lead carries his memories into different bodies across a span of three hundred years. So this is a historical transmigration story. Readers who don't like reincarnation, proceed with caution.]

And as long as you live, you'll meet new people and encounter new things.

She still had a hundred years ahead of her. Her life was only just beginning.
