Looping, Starting with a Wedding Heist

[A Day Trapped in Another World / Melodramatic Mystery]

The day after the Ghost Festival celebrations is my wedding day.

But I've been trapped on the day of the celebrations for nine full days.

On the tenth day, I finally figured out what triggers the loop:

A wedding procession. As long as the groom in red, riding a tall horse, passes through the main gate of the fair, everything starts over.

I need to come up with a plan.

First, rule out running off with the groom. I'm not exactly a scheming villain who can spin a convincing story.

Wei Xun wakes up with a splitting headache and learns he has a wife.

His wife was born in the countryside but loves him deeply. He decides to elope with her, but somehow things don't feel right.

For instance, his wife claims to be pregnant, yet can run with ease.

She says she'll take him to escape, yet refuses to leave the city.

She says they're inseparable, yet instinctively slaps him whenever he gets close.

At first, he thinks he must have done something wrong to upset his wife and deserves to die for it.

But after waking once more with a splitting headache, he remembers everything and realizes someone else is the one who deserves to die.

"On my wedding day, a woman as wild as a boar barged into my heart again and again. Later, I became the pig myself. (I can't laugh.)"

P.S. The female lead has traveled back twenty years. The proper title is Twenty Years Without a Cicada's Cry.
