I'll Be a Star After This Role

Trying to make this a short story >_<

Yan Zhu and Ling Xin are famously washed-up celebrities in the Chinese entertainment industry.

Why are they washed-up, yet "famous"?

Because they've had three of the fastest, easiest chances to become overnight sensations: starring in danmei adaptations.

And all three ended in total flops.

The first time, they filmed it and it aired. The plot was awful, the ending was tragic, and the special effects looked like they cost five cents. The show was most popular in videos roasting it.

The second time, they filmed it and it aired, only to get caught up in the massive danmei-adaptation boom of 202. It sank without making a ripple, while all their competitors shot to stardom.

The third time, they filmed it, but it never aired. Danmei adaptations fell out of favor, and it still hasn't been released!

The fourth time... hasn't even started filming!

Yan Zhu: Why are we doing another danmei adaptation?

Ling Xin: Why do I have to work with Yan Zhu again?

Ling Xin really thinks Yan Zhu is his jinx. Yan Zhu is 50% responsible for him not making it big!

As it happens, Yan Zhu thinks the same thing.

With sour looks on their faces, the two embark on their fourth danmei adaptation together.

On the first day of filming, they get into a huge fight on set and end up trending online.

The netizens who rush over after hearing the news: So shippable. Love it.

Yan Zhu and Ling Xin: So this is the kind of thing you like?? We worked so hard playing a devoted couple before, and it was all for nothing??!

Their fourth danmei adaptation becomes a hit before filming even begins.

This time, they're really going to make it big.

[Ten years, and it's still you, my unlucky nemesis, my perfect partner.]

One-on-one romance, happy ending

* A fluffy, brain-off treat. This is an alternate universe, and I'm just writing for fun qaq

* No real-life inspirations. Don't bring up real-world celebrities.
