I'll start a few other books before coming back to fill this one in. If you're interested, feel free to add it to your reading list. The opening chapters are being revised.
"Though we should meet again, we would not know each other: dust on my face, frost in my hair."
A clear-headed, decisive, ruthless noblewoman × a seemingly roguish, calculating prince who is secretly a lovestruck schemer
Shen Qiongwei × Liang Yan
Shen Qiongwei, chief executive of Bureau 108, is assigned a difficult mission.
In the sixth year of the Tianshou era, a regent emerged at court, usurping imperial authority. He wielded overwhelming power and held the entire government in his hands.
After several encounters and probing exchanges, Shen Qiongwei realizes that he is deeply calculating and gives nothing away. It would be unwise to get entangled with him, so she decides to assassinate him and be done with it.
The regent's bedchamber should have been heavily guarded, but it is completely deserted. Liang Yan, the regent, is there in disarray, as if eagerly awaiting her arrival.
He grabs her wrist and presses the knife against his own face. "Miss Shen, it's been a long time."
Shen Qiongwei is terrified, certain she is about to die. But then the supposedly calculating, smiling tiger wraps an arm around her waist and buries his face in the crook of her neck, silently weeping. "Shen Nan, it really has been so long."
Shen Qiongwei is struck as if by lightning.
Shen Nan is her name in the real world...
Bureau 108 is dedicated to correcting historical errors. It has trained a large number of outstanding agents and commanders to travel through different eras and resolve lingering problems from history.
After being forcibly pulled into this mission world,
Shen Nan feels that everything about this mission is strange and paradoxical.
She can't help wondering:
Is the organization she has loyally served really only correcting historical errors?
From sworn rivals to marriage first, love later
Liang Yan says: We weren't marriage first, love later! We're an old married couple!
A few things to know before reading:
1. Shen Nan, Shen Qiongwei, and Shen Heqian are all names for the heroine. The first two are names she uses in different eras, and Heqian is her courtesy name. Liang Yan is the hero's name, and Xunzhou is his courtesy name.
2. The male and female leads are not traditionally good people.
3. The time travel and historical correction are entirely made up by the author.
4. This story has no specific historical setting and takes place in a wholly fictional world.
