[Western Crossover] A Good Night Falls on Gotham

While monitoring the Animal Party's movements from the roof of an abandoned building, Batman saw a flash of fire in the sky above Gotham Bay. Something fell from the sky into the water.

He pulled another man dressed as a bat from the water.

The man was covered in wounds and only a breath away from death.

He took the man to his safe house. Even damaged, the man's equipment was clearly more expensive than his own. Batman wanted to know who he was and what he was doing in Gotham.

When the man awoke, he told him his name was Bruce.

They had the same name, and even the same interests.

Batman thought he'd found himself a nuisance, but he had never been afraid of trouble.

Only much later did he understand that the day he pulled the man from the water, he had rescued a bright, clear moon.

*

Bruce carried a nuclear bomb and said goodbye to Gotham, flying toward the fate that awaited him.

He left the city he had loved all his life, only to enter another deep, dark night.

That night had its own Batman.

Later, Gotham finally found a gentle, peaceful night.

Reading Guide

1. The timeline serves the plot. OOC. If you want to argue, you're right.

2. Pairing: BatBruce, definitely Absolute Batman × BatBatman. Younger top; in this setting, BatBatman is older, since Absolute Universe Batman was born in 2004, making him Gen Z...

3. The Absolute Universe story has only just begun, so this fic is full of the author's subjective guesses and imaginings about what comes next.

4. The plot has both angst and sweetness, and the protagonist will face setbacks.

5. More to be added if I think of anything.
