Gathering Jade in My Arms

They marry first and fall in love later. A proud, pure-hearted beauty of a heroine x a cool-headed hero who is cold on the outside, warm on the inside, and gradually falls in love.

Jiang Zheqiong is the pampered young lady of a duke's household, raised like a precious jewel. Her marriage is an excellent match too: she marries Cui Yanqing, the eldest son of the Cui family, and everyone in the capital envies her.

Cui Yanqing is strict with himself, but never stops Zheqiong from going out and spending time with friends. He even makes a point of picking her up in rain or snow, caring for her in every way. Zheqiong falls for his constant attentiveness.

When the elders of the family urge her to hurry up and have a child, she shyly agrees.

But lately, Zheqiong has been preparing to divorce him.

One day, in the pouring rain, Zheqiong went to pick up her husband. While taking shelter under a covered walkway, she heard someone say, "It's been over a year. Aren't you going to have a child? Taking too much of that medicine isn't good for your health."

Cui Yanqing's voice was cool. "It's not the right time yet."

Zheqiong couldn't remember how she got home. That night, when Cui Yanqing tried to embrace her, she firmly pushed him away.

Cui Yanqing noticed the change in her attitude. Before he had a chance to win her back, she sent him a divorce agreement.

Cui Yanqing tore it to pieces and sneered. "I don't agree."

When the divorce went nowhere, Zheqiong started giving Cui Yanqing the cold shoulder. But he continued to care for her as attentively as ever.

Zheqiong thought that everyone who praised Cui Yanqing's propriety and courtesy had been fooled by him. Because now, even after she'd refused him many times, Cui Yanqing was still holding her foot and placing it in warm water.

Zheqiong deliberately stomped in the water, splashing his face. She looked down at him with a cold smile, staring straight into his devastatingly handsome face. "You don't even want a child with me, so why are you still pretending?"

Water droplets slid from Cui Yanqing's eyelashes. Instead of getting angry, he smiled. "So this is what you're upset about, my lady."

That night, Cui Yanqing didn't leave. Holding Zheqiong by the ankle, he said softly, "Please let me explain, my lady. Give me time."
