Eleven Years of Snow Melt, and Spring Arrives

Wu Shuang was betrothed to Prince Yu when she was young.

But on the eve of the wedding, Prince Yu ran off to save the woman he loved.

The emperor then issued an edict ordering his most beloved son to marry Wu Shuang.

Prince Jing, Xiao Ziqi, was refined and handsome. He and Wu Shuang became childhood sweethearts, loving and trusting each other completely. Everyone envied them.

Yet Prince Yu ascended the throne. At a palace banquet, he happened to see Wu Shuang and pointed toward her, asking the eunuch beside him, "Whose young lady is that?"

The eunuch replied, "Your Majesty, she is Prince Jing's consort."

The emperor deeply regretted having believed the slanderous words of petty men back then, and thinking Wu Shuang was an ugly, sickly shrew. Now that he had seen her, all he could think about was making her his alone.

That night, when Xiao Ziqi lifted the red wedding veil embroidered with dragons and phoenixes and saw his wife's breathtaking beauty, he knew that one day he might have to become a traitor for her.
