Notes from a Six Fan Gate Grunt

The moment Qi Yueshuang opened her eyes, she had transmigrated back to the first year of the Xuanping era.

The original owner was the daughter of a minor official. Her father was cold, her mother was sickly, her stepmother was vicious, and her grandmother cursed her every day as a worthless burden.

So the first thing Qi Yueshuang did after arriving here was set up on her own.

As it happened, the Six Fan Gate was recruiting female constables. Qi Yueshuang passed the exam and became a rookie constable, with a one-year probationary period.

The job came with room and board, excellent prospects, and, most importantly, a secure position paid by the imperial government.

Qi Yueshuang set herself a few small goals:

Rise to the rank of First-Rank Chief Constable within ten years;

Reform the Six Fan Gate's investigative procedures to uphold both justice and civil rights;

Write a Guide to Investigations by the Six Fan Gate and make it a bestseller in bookstores across Jiangnan and Jiangbei;

And own a fine carriage, fine horses, and a grand mansion...

In short, she was determined to gain both power and wealth.

And before retiring, she hoped to catch the famous outlaw Zhaoyeqing.

[Reading Guide]

1. Set in a fictionalized Ming dynasty, with plenty of original worldbuilding. The male lead is strong, but the female lead is even stronger. It covers everyday life in an ancient workplace, and the romance is pure sweetness.

2. The heroine is an ambitious woman, 170 centimeters tall, with a sweet, harmless-looking face. Everyone loves her, and she's got every lucky charm stacked in her favor.

3. At first, the male lead is a foolish beauty who looks smart if you judge him by his face. He's the greatest swordsman, with the best lightness skill in the world, but he's nearly illiterate: he has a heart for the sword, not for the written word. After joining the heroine, he trains in both civil and military arts, but he's still a wolf in sheep's clothing, the rabid-dog kind.

#A rabid dog isn't scary. A cultured rabid dog is#
