Becoming the Crown Prince's Study Companion

Ming Xu is the young master of the Marquis of Anle's household. He's so delicate and pretty that his entire family spoils him rotten. At five years old, he still hasn't finished memorizing the Three Character Classic.

When the palace holds a selection for study companions for the princes, little Ming Xu is chosen by the Second Prince thanks to his sweet, well-behaved appearance.

Everyone says little Ming Xu is lucky.

Second Prince Lu Chengxun has been exceptionally clever since childhood. He could shoot a bow at five and write poetry at six. He is the current emperor's favorite son, and his ascension to the Eastern Palace seems only a matter of time.

But, but... Little Ming Xu doesn't like studying and doesn't want to compete with the Second Prince. So he toddles over to the Third Prince instead.

Third Prince Lu Chengyu was born frail and sickly. His birth mother died young, and he is a loner, an invisible child in the palace. Becoming his study companion gives little Ming Xu no future at all.

Lu Chengxun transmigrates into a book as its ambitious hero. At a young age, he helps his birth mother fight in the palace, defeats his brothers, and inherits the throne. With a legitimate male empress from a distinguished family and a brilliant adviser at his side, he enjoys power and beauty and becomes a winner in life. Ming Xu is that male empress from a distinguished family.

Lu Chengyu, meanwhile, is the book's disposable villain. He devotes himself to avenging his birth mother, schemes against the protagonist and his mother, and is confined to die after his plan fails.

With his future empress now the villain's study companion, Lu Chengxun is on his guard. But gradually he realizes that when the two little heads draw close and whisper together, they're not plotting against him. They're eating snacks, raising a pony, and planning to go out and play together.

Lu Chengyu makes an effort for once, and it's only to give Ming Xu a reward as a birthday present.

Lu Chengxun: Excellent. My future worthy consort has turned the villain into a lazybones without moving a single soldier.

Later, Third Prince Lu Chengyu leads Ming Xu by the hand into the Eastern Palace.

Lu Chengxun: ...?
