Dance Your Heart Out, Gakuto

Mukahi Gakuto, 16, first-year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Nekoma High School.

According to reliable sources, his club application listed his personal experience as having been a regular first-string starter on his middle school's tennis team for three years.

To be clear, this was on his application to join the volleyball club.

...So?

After playing his last official tennis match in his third year of middle school and watching the U17 World Cup, Mukahi returned to Hyotei, satisfied, to continue his studies. When it came time to choose a school, he picked Tokyo Metropolitan Nekoma High School.

He couldn't help it. His grades were so uneven that he couldn't get into Fukurodani or Inarizaki.

But it was fine! Nekoma sounded like so much fun!

He quickly filled out his club application and slapped it down on the table at the recruitment booth, thinking optimistically.

Mukahi had always felt that volleyball and tennis were very different.

The court wasn't much bigger than a tennis court, but there were far more people on it.

So this was volleyball.

As long as the ball didn't hit the ground, the rally could go on forever and ever.

Standing before a net much taller than he was, Mukahi looked up at its highest point and thought this.

He took two steps back, ran up, and jumped.

His view suddenly soared. Facing the arms raised high to block him at the net, a wildly excited smile spread across his lips, beyond his control.

His view was incredibly wide open. The blockers' hands in front of him didn't even leave the slightest impression in his eyes.

He swung his arm and spiked the ball.

He sent it over the block and aimed into the gap.

Jump as high as you like, Gakuto.

Smash down every ball Nekoma's brains send your way.

You will always belong to the sky.

1. Unless something unexpected happens, this is my take on Gakuto. The kid was originally a minor character... His personality is weird and hard to pin down.

2. Sorry for the OOC. Gomen nasai.

3. It's hard to say when I'll start posting.
