The Little Monster's Affection Is Off the Charts

In the damp, dark sewers beneath an abandoned city, overgrown with moss, lived a little monster made of transparent tentacles, scarlet eyeballs, and sharp teeth. Every day it built a nest, hunted, and cleaned its room, living a very orderly life. Its only frustration was that it could never get itself clean.

One day, while wriggling its tentacles on a hunt, it was picked up from the filthy water by a human and taken home.

The human washed the slime off it with clear water, stroked its eyeballs and teeth with warm palms, and gently cut open its transparent skin with a sharp blade, patiently removing the little stones inside that had been painfully pressing against it.

The little monster made happy, comfortable sounds. (￣▽￣)

Later, the human left.

The little monster couldn't eat or sleep. It missed the human's tenderness and affection every moment of every day! So it molded itself into a human shape and set off to search for the human among other people.

The Fourth Special Forces Unit at the human base took on a temporary member. The boy, more exquisite than an oil painting, stuck close to Captain Qing Chen every day. Food, candy, or even contaminated objects, whatever he got, he would bring straight to the captain, gazing up at him with sparkling eyes and asking for a pat on the head and some praise.

Qing Chen always indulged the boy.

The team members privately said that the thousand-year-old iron tree was finally about to bloom, and they should work hard to save up for a wedding gift.

The little monster overheard them and asked earnestly, "What's a wedding gift? Should I save up for one too?"

But he'd already given all his things to his human.

What was he supposed to do?

So one day, Qing Chen discovered that the little monster snuck out of camp every night and returned at dawn, filthy from head to toe. When he caught the boy and pressed him for an answer, the boy stammered out the truth: "I've been secretly saving up my private funds."

Qing Chen asked, puzzled, "Private funds?"

The little monster nodded. "Yeah, to give you a wedding gift."

Qing Chen: "...?"
