Sang Jing lived an upright, ordinary life, ate his meals in peace, and had been single for twenty years. The biggest scheme he'd ever pulled was pretending to be sick in college to get out of an early-morning class.
Then he transmigrated into a book.
He became the male lead of a revenge-and-political-intrigue story.
Not only was the original story even more slapdash than its outline, giving only the ending and none of the events leading up to it, but he also got stuck with a terrible System that threatened his life every day. If he didn't follow the plot, he'd die.
But what kind of male lead in a political revenge story gets his revenge by seducing men the whole way through?
System: Do you have any idea how pathetic you are? Do you really think you can pull off being a proper male lead in a political intrigue story?
Sang Jing: ...I can't.
But did he even know how to seduce anyone?
Sang Jing racked his brains, studied the script, and worked diligently all night writing little scenes. He'd made a decent start!
Sang Jing: It all starts tomorrow. I'm so nervous. Baby System, can you run through it with me? [Shy]
System: Put your clothes on first.
Sang Jing: Don't I look good like this? [Wink]
System: ...You're supposed to seduce them, not sell yourself.
Sang Jing pulled his collar shut with a wounded expression and crossed out the scene he'd written: "Bump into each other at a street corner, spin around 360 degrees into an embrace, pull open your clothes to reveal a bare shoulder, and fall in love at first sight."
Even a fake male lead in a political intrigue story was beyond him. QAQ
To avoid being killed for failing to follow the plot, Sang Jing threw a tantrum, rolled around, and clung stubbornly to the System until it finally agreed to help this hopeless case.
The System analyzed the characters for him, trained his acting, tailored scenes to suit him, and even stepped in to demonstrate them personally!
The haughty fox spirit needed a sunny, straightforward type.
The cold genius needed a teasing white lotus.
The rakish young master needed a resilient innocent flower.
The obsessive Right Chancellor needed someone who was desirable yet unattainable.
With the System's expert guidance, Sang Jing finally got the plot back on track and became a capable master of time management!
After spending the whole day out with three men and completing his first mission on his own, he returned home tipsy and immediately went to take credit with the System, which had stayed behind.
"Father Chancellor! I did it!"
The masked, translucent figure in the room raised its eyes coolly. Three empty wine jars sat in front of it. "Oh. Congratulations."
Sang Jing beamed, flopped down, and fell fast asleep, twisting around his pillow in an impossible pose.
The translucent figure by the bed gazed at him in silence.
Its hand clenched tightly at its side.
It took off its mask, revealing a face every bit as exquisite as the one on the bed. Bending down, it pressed a restrained kiss to the center of Sang Jing's forehead.
P.S.:
1. The love interest is both the System and the original host.
2. This is not a selfcest story. They are similar to two souls sharing one body, with some original worldbuilding.
Coming soon: The Fisherman's Grateful Clam-Spirit Husband
A lovable, clueless clam-spirit bottom x a gentle, refined fisherman top
Once upon a time, there was a lovely white butterfly clam who devoted himself to painstakingly making pearls. After a hundred years, he became a spirit. One day, he was drifting across the sea with his precious pearl when a huge net came down and hauled him aboard a human fishing boat.
The white butterfly clam lay trembling among a pile of fish and shrimp.
Humans pried open clams to dig out pearls, ground up the shells for medicine, and ate the meat. To a clam, they were the most terrifying demons in the sea!
Just when he had given up all hope, a warm hand reached through the fish and shrimp, picked him up, and returned him to the sea. Before swimming away, the white butterfly clam memorized the human's face and vowed to repay his kindness.

Song Zhaoxi's parents died in a maritime disaster, and his family's straitened circumstances forced him to put his civil service studies on hold and make a living at sea. One night, after a long day of fishing, a young man climbed out of the water and came right up to him to ask, "Benefactor, will you marry me?"
The young man was dripping wet, his skin as white as a pearl beneath the moonlight. When he smiled, two dimples appeared at the corners of his eyes.
Song Zhaoxi swallowed hard.
The young man had climbed out of the water by himself, so Song Zhaoxi couldn't exactly call himself his benefactor. But as he pressed a hand to his pounding heart, he had to admit he really did want to marry him.
Only...
On their wedding night, his little husband got drunk.
Song Zhaoxi stared silently at the drunkard in his arms, who kept spitting out pearls.

Theme: I send my hopes to the cold stars, though they may not understand; I pledge my blood to the land of my birth.
Sangsang and the system's character design hit my XP perfectly.
Damn, can I still wait until it's over? [Poor]
Woohoo, wow, when will it be updated? [Pitiful]
