Four years after his childhood friend died, Matsuda Jinpei happens upon a wish bottle.
Inside are many beautiful amethyst crystals. The only flaw is that they aren't pure purple. All of them are tinged with black to some degree.
Later, Matsuda Jinpei discovers their secret: each crystal represents Hagiwara Kenji in a parallel world. The darker the crystal, the more deeply that world's childhood friend has fallen into darkness.
And if he purifies all the amethyst crystals, the wish bottle will grant him one wish.
From what Matsuda Jinpei can tell, purification means pulling his fallen childhood friend from a parallel world out of the darkness and getting him to firmly choose to become part of the "good guys."
At first, Matsuda Jinpei, still trying to figure things out: What the hell? Hagi from a parallel world joined the criminal underworld? If I throw him in jail, will my own Hagi come back to life?
Fine, then. I'll report them all and send them to prison.
Later, Matsuda Jinpei: Some are really easy to win over, while others are genuinely difficult... And why have those two bastards who disappeared four years ago also fallen into darkness?!
After finding the "dark trio" working for the same organization in several worlds, Matsuda Jinpei: You guys really do love this organization.
Later, Matsuda Jinpei discovers that this organization exists in his own world, too: ...
Matsuda Jinpei discovers that his other two classmates weren't corrupted at all. They were undercover: ...
You guys act so convincingly, you'd think it was real.jpg
I nearly sent every last one of you to jail.jpg
Wait, no!
Matsuda Jinpei watches as the dark version of Hagiwara Kenji, whom he'd "worked so hard" to gather evidence against and send to prison, is promptly escorted right back out by several police officers, who treat him with the utmost respect. He: ...
This is kind of scary. I don't think I can handle him.
"Matsuda."
A familiar-looking young man with shoulder-length hair smiles at him. "So you wanted to give me a tour of the Metropolitan Police Department? No way, not unless we go together~ Next time, we can pack lunch for a picnic and go together~"
Matsuda Jinpei keeps a blank expression and holds the man back with a fist.
In the end, he decides to use his ultimate move: summon his parallel-world self.
Matsuda Jinpei from a parallel world, dragged out of all sorts of obscure corners: ?
So you dump people you can't handle on me, huh? Quit bothering me while I'm fixing cars, you bastard!
