How Hagiwara the Dollmaker Can Achieve a Happy Ending

How many ways are there to use a doll? Unscientific surveillance, biological monitoring, master locksmith... A plushie Matsuda, a mechanical doll Matsuda, a cat plushie Matsuda, a little-kid Matsuda... (Matsuda: Are you ever going to stop?) Hagi: Ahem. Anyway, dolls are so useful! *[The serious blurb starts here]:* After getting a chance to come back to life, Hagi returned to the present with a new ability, only to be told that his childhood friend had died two years ago. Hagi, heart stopped, dollmaker: Take a deep breath.jpg After racing around to find his childhood friend's soul, he learned not long afterward that one of his two classmates who had vanished without a trace, little Morofushi, had also gotten into trouble. Hagi: ... Six years, five dead, three survivors. What are the odds? The good news was that little Morofushi had been sticking with little Furuya all along. While trying to bring Morofushi back to life, Hagi also got to meet Furuya, who was still undercover. After learning about Furuya's situation and the enormous organization involved, Hagi gladly joined the effort to bring it down, so his friend could retire under his real name. From then on, Tokyo had a hardworking, civic-minded person reporting the forces of darkness. Along with a minor who'd taken a wrong turn (not really) into fighting organized crime And a sniper who could hit a target from a kilometer away But the dollmaker still hadn't made a real doll. So why not pick a hapless victim at random? The hapless victim sent by the Black Organization to investigate an unknown enemy force: ... With the hapless victims' help, the dollmaker worked his way through the organization and finally saw its boss's true face through one of their eyes. Good news: He's an old man who's nearly dead. Bad news: He's the richest man in Japan. If nothing unexpected happens, there's zero chance little Furuya will finish his undercover work and go back to being a police officer before retirement. Hagi, the unexpected itself: Thinking for one second.jpg Hagi, the BOSS: Happily picking the next hapless victim.jpg The BOSS himself, under control: ... (swearing) Furuya, who just found out his classmate became the power behind the organization: ... Getting carried to victory came so unexpectedly.jpg *[The original blurb starts here]:* What do you do when your childhood friend has been blown to pieces? Hagi (dollmaker): It's okay! I'll just put little Matsuda back together! Make a brand-new body to protect the most precious soul. When Matsuda looked at him again with those familiar eyes, Hagi couldn't resist hugging him. And, sure enough... he got punched. Hagi: QAQ But still. “Welcome back to this world, little Matsuda.” - About the new body: Matsuda closed his eyes in an explosion. When he woke up again, not only was his childhood friend, whom he hadn't seen in four years, there, but his body had also become strange. “What is this made of?” His childhood friend, who had somehow become a dollmaker, answered brightly, “It's mechanical!” A mechanical doll? Hagi: “I did think about using other materials, but... I thought little Matsuda might want to try taking himself apart?” Matsuda, expressionless: Who wants to take himself apart for no reason? Matsuda, picking up a screwdriver: Let's see where to start. Hagi: Hehe. - One morning, sometime after the organization was defeated, Furuya received a large anonymous package. Well... it wasn't all that anonymous. The note read: “I couldn't get here in time, but I won't let Zero-chan and Hiro-chan be apart~ Happy reunion! (Finger heart.jpg)” Furuya: ... He opened the package and lifted out his childhood friend, who was breathing steadily. When the other man opened his eyes and looked at him, Furuya couldn't help throwing himself at him. “Zero, I'm back.” The black-haired, blue-eyed young man caught him gently, smiling just as he had before.
