I Haven't Been a Zombie in Years

Pei Jintang was a zombie trapped inside a coffin.

He had no idea how many years he had been sealed inside. All he knew was that it had been a very long time, and he desperately wanted out.

So he swore to all the gods and Buddhas: This devout believer vows to be a vegetarian for the rest of his life, if only he can escape this hellhole.

The very next second after he made his vow, a man dug up his grave.

Overcome with gratitude, Pei Jintang decided to repay the man by working as his bodyguard.

To show off his iron-hard body, he casually smashed a few things to pieces.

The man said, "You just smashed my Rolls-Royce."

Pei Jintang said, "What died?"

Later, Pei Jintang figured out that it was the Rolls that had died, and the man who was exhausted from working.

To pay for the damages, Pei Jintang had no choice but to work himself to the bone. But for some reason, every place he worked was haunted.

He worked at a crematorium, where the corpses burned during the day reappeared at night.

He worked for a food delivery app, and one night the elevator took him to the nonexistent 18th basement floor of a building.

He worked as an extra on a paranormal film set, and before long, a coworker playing a dead ghost alongside him became a real corpse.

After three months of backbreaking work, he still hadn't received a paycheck, and one coworker or boss after another had died.

Pei Jintang was a zombie who had died without turning into a ghost, and was still very afraid of ghosts. He couldn't take this bizarre life anymore, so he asked his creditor for help: Benefactor, I heard you're an all-powerful CEO. Could you pull some strings and find me a job where I won't run into ghosts?

The man said, "Sure."

The next day, Pei Jintang thought: So when you owe a mountain of debt, you have to pay it back with your own hide. Capitalists are so cruel!
