A Detective Conan Fanfic About an Ordinary Person

Thank you for clicking on this story. Please read the blurb and all the warnings in [] before deciding whether to continue: Second-person POV. An ordinary person transmigrates. Pure-hearted, no character-bashing, no misunderstandings, the police academy is saved, and everyone gets a happy ending. Dry prose, dry ideas, dry plot, strongly subjective analysis, and plenty of stereotypes. The protagonist isn’t assertive. They’re the kind who gives everything and puts others before themselves. I’m starving, but I’ve run out of things to read, so I had to scrape together a little food myself. Then I came up with so much that I decided to post it here and save a copy. (Meaning: bad writing.) There’s no outline. I write whatever comes to mind, and I might abandon it if I feel the characters have gone too far out of character. (Meaning: slow updates.) It’s not angsty, and I wouldn’t know how to write angst anyway... I’ve never written it, though I often write melodrama. (Meaning: very melodramatic.) Normally there’s no golden finger, but there is Conan-style science. (Meaning: there are plot holes.) The pairing is Hiromitsu. Good news: I finally got it out. Bad news: I can’t rein it in. In short, the romance is overdone and a little cloying, so don’t expect too much... (Meaning: the romance isn’t good.) [Warning 1] Any out-of-character writing is on me. The characters belong to their original creators. [Warning 2: Second-person POV and writing without a name] I’m not changing it. I like writing this way. This story started as a self-indulgent outline based on a prompt. (Before writing it, I was writing Western fandom fiction and had gotten used to second-person POV with y/n.) I never expected it to get this long, and I didn’t change the style. It’s not because some evil stepmother of an author hates the character and won’t give her a name. I hate the character, so I write her getting all cozy with my fave. Anyone else want to hate her like that? I’ve written plenty in third person, and I’m good at coming up with names, but this story is one I want to write in this POV. Please understand that “your name” writing exists in this world and is used by plenty of real people. If you don’t accept it, don’t read it. If you don’t understand it, block me. If you want to ban it, go fight the person who invented it. Insulting me individually won’t make this style disappear. [Warning 3: The heroine is weak] I’m not changing it. This is what I like. This is a fix-it story. The protagonist has low self-esteem and will do anything to save her fave. You can see this flaw from chapter one. But she hasn’t done anything evil, and I’m not writing a revenge story. Some comments have used this as an excuse to personally attack me and call me “crazy.” That’s way out of line. (P.S. If it meant saving someone better by giving up my own life, I’d agree to it without hesitation, and I’d be very, very happy with that ending to my life. If our values don’t align, you can stop reading now.) I’ve written all kinds of protagonists. I have ten complete outlines for Conan fanfiction alone: a thrill-seeking vigilante, a violent battle maniac, a loud college student, an emotional parasite who uses people’s feelings, and even a delicate, amnesiac flower who’s frailer than this story’s protagonist. I enjoy all kinds of things, so I write all kinds of things. Don’t slap a label on me just because of one story. I’m writing this for myself because it’s what I like. There’s nothing wrong with having different tastes, but this isn’t a commission, and I’m not offering the luxury service of changing the characters to suit you. [Warning 4: No golden finger] The biggest reason I started this story was that I’d read several Conan fanfics that began with an ordinary protagonist, only for them to get tangled up with the Black Organization again and again a few dozen chapters later... I’d had enough, so I finally wrote a story that sticks to an ordinary protagonist and doesn’t give them a golden finger. Besides, the title makes it pretty obvious. Surely no one came here expecting an overpowered protagonist and a wish-fulfillment story. Honestly, I’m already finding it a little hard to keep the protagonist ordinary... This story is a fairy tale. Since the author hates tragedy, everything will end happily, and that’s already a pretty big golden finger. [Warning 5: Lots of stereotypes] That’s my problem. I tried hard to fix it, but couldn’t... I’ve read so much that the stereotypes have soaked right in. Feel free to discuss the original characters. [Warning 6: Bad writing] This has always been a problem. The writing is bad. I thought no one would read it since I was writing for myself, so I never bothered to revise... Now I’m thinking more about word choice as I write. I’ll try harder (sheepish). That’s all. If you’ve read everything and are sure you can accept all the warnings, then welcome to share this pot of pure-red rice with me! If not, that’s fine. We just have different tastes. Please don’t torture yourself by reading on. If you’re hungry for something to read, you can leave a request in the comments on chapter one! All recommendations are welcome here~ (But please don’t recommend my story elsewhere qwq.) If you have questions about any other potential warnings, ask in the one pinned comment on this story. I’ll do my best to reply promptly! Theme: Kick the procrastination habit
