I Opened a Gourmet Shop in Ancient Times

Jiang Sigui transmigrates and lands in the worst possible situation from the start: a sword is at her throat, and her scheming stepsister wants to harm her. Fortunately, she gets bound to an Evil-Sensing System that can tell whether people are good or bad. The System is mostly decorative, though, and keeps malfunctioning or running off.

But that's all right. Is there anything she can't adapt to? After finally getting out of immediate danger, Jiang Sigui uses the business skills she learned in the modern world to open a shop. Whether it's all kinds of pastries or an all-you-can-eat restaurant, she can handle it all. But why has the System started chiming nonstop again? Is someone always trying to kill her?

At the crown prince's request, Song Yujin investigates a military intelligence leak. By chance, he meets Jiang Sigui, his legendary fiancee, and from then on begins a lifetime of talking himself into falling for her.

But why is she so obsessed with keeping the books, and indifferent to everything else? Then he'll just have to pay a fortune to hire her as his informant among the common folk, exchanging real gold for her true heart (not really).

One day, Jiang Sigui enthusiastically recommends a meal deal to a customer. After the customer leaves, Song Yujin pulls her "fiercely" into his arms.

Jiang Sigui is confused. "Why are you doing this, Young Master?"

Song Yujin sounds rather aggrieved. "Boss Jiang, you really know how to play your cards. So you smile that happily at everyone. You said I was the person who understood you best."

Jiang Sigui: ? That's not what she meant at the time...

Read with caution, read with caution. This story is pretty absurd (collapses) (clings to the wall).

Completely fictional world, completely fictional world. Aside from official titles borrowed from ancient times, all other things, like place names, are made up by me.

When this story was first approved, I originally planned to write a mystery, but I realized I couldn't manage it. So I changed it to food plus a little amateur sleuthing. A deranged after-work writing project, and the language may be quite modern. Feel free to point out any mistakes.

Because of a bet, Chui Yiqi and Gu Tongshu, childhood friends in name only who had barely been in touch for years, become a "couple" for a month.

The two used to be sworn enemies as kids. During their month as a couple, Gu Tongshu is completely different from the way he used to be. He really does act like a good boyfriend, bringing Chui Yiqi breakfast and snacks, keeping her company at the library, and coming all the way to pick her up with an umbrella on rainy days.

Just as Chui Yiqi is completely baffled, wondering if Gu Tongshu is keeping up his end of some other bet, the month passes peacefully in no time.

One day, Gu Tongshu invites her to dinner at an upscale restaurant. Chui Yiqi sees the time and realizes it's time for their "breakup meal."

"I know today's the day we break up. There's no need to waste so much money," Chui Yiqi says, looking at the lavish restaurant.

"No. You should say today is our one-month anniversary."

Chui Yiqi: ? What exactly is the misunderstanding here?

"Like bubbles rising endlessly in blue lemonade, I can't hide how much I like you."
