When Sang Cheng was six, she fell ill. Through her feverish haze, a small arm scooped her into an embrace, gave her medicine, and soothed her to sleep.
At the time, Sang Cheng thought that maybe she wasn’t truly unloved by everyone.
After her grandparents died, everyone hated her. She was a dirty little child, and only Ye Ranzhi treated her differently.
Later, she realized Ye Ranzhi was simply kind. She was gentle with everyone, and the one who truly received special treatment was Sang Cheng’s older sister, Sang Mei.
Ye Ranzhi loved Sang Mei. She had loved her since childhood, and Sang Cheng had always known.
After that, Sang Cheng became a tagalong to Ye Ranzhi and Sang Mei, until the summer before her first year of high school.
In the torrential summer rain, she saw the two of them embracing outside the airport terminal. Sang Mei chose to part with Ye Ranzhi for the sake of her future in art.
Sang Mei was gone for two years.
On another summer night after the college entrance exams, Ye Ranzhi, hazy with drink, lifted Sang Cheng’s chin, seemingly on a whim, and kissed her on the lips.
“Your eyes look so much like hers. Be my lover.”
With that one drunken sentence from Ye Ranzhi, Sang Cheng spent four years as a substitute.
Throughout those four years, she watched herself fall deeper in, fully aware of what was happening. Late at night, Ye Ranzhi would blindfold her with a ribbon, and her voice and words were no longer as gentle as they had been when Sang Cheng was a child.
“Can’t you smile? You look awful with that frown.”
“You can’t even smile on command. No wonder nobody likes you!”
“Do you know how Sang Mei smiles?”
“You don’t look like her when you do that…”
-
There was a special room in Ye Ranzhi’s villa. One day, Sang Cheng accidentally wandered inside and uncovered its secret.
It was filled with every award-winning piece Sang Mei had made abroad over the years. Ye Ranzhi had bought them all and brought them home. The walls were covered with photos of the two of them, from childhood to adulthood.
Many of the photos had actually been of all three of them, but Sang Cheng had been cropped out.
Sang Cheng shook her head with a bitter smile and quietly closed the door.
Later, when Sang Mei returned to the country, Sang Cheng let go without a word.
-
Three years later, Sang Cheng returned from Italy and met Ye Ranzhi again. The elegant, refined woman had grown so thin she was almost as frail as a sheet of paper. Crying, she clung to Sang Cheng and begged her, casting aside all her pride and dignity as if she had found a precious treasure lost for years.
“Do you have any idea how long I’ve been looking for you? Three years…”
“I missed you so much.”
Younger woman / angsty and satisfying / melodramatic / both leads are virgins / happy ending
Reading guide:
① A long, hard road to winning her back. The love interest stays the same, with a six-year age gap.
② Both leads are virgins, and the love interest and the pursuer’s older sister never dated.
③ The pursuit is not just for show. There is plenty of it in the story.
④ Written for my own enjoyment. I write what I like, however I like.
⑤ The plot is melodramatic. I love melodrama and angst, and every character, from the leads to the supporting cast, is pretty unhinged.

Next book: I’ve Wanted My Sister-in-Law for Years. If you’re interested, please add it to your favorites.
Blurb:
Bai Zhi first met Song Yingli at her sister’s birthday party.
The woman was beautiful as a painting, graceful and refined. Bai Zhi fell for her at first sight.
Her sister took Song Yingli’s hand and said to Bai Zhi, “Call her sister-in-law.”
Suppressing the flutter in her heart, Bai Zhi called her sister-in-law with a cold expression.
She thought, My new sister-in-law is perfect in every way, except that she’s a little blind.
Four years later, she overheard her sister and sister-in-law arguing.
“It was just a fling. Did you really think I’d marry you?”
Song Yingli, always so composed, was crying like a rain-soaked flower and begging her sister, who remained unmoved.
Bai Zhi was the one who reached out to wipe away the tears at the corner of her eye and told her not to cry.
Song Yingli thought Bai Zhi was a good person. She never expected that as soon as she broke up with her sister, Bai Zhi would climb into her bed.
Pinned beneath Bai Zhi, she was swept into one passionate encounter after another.
The more she struggled, the harder Bai Zhi held her, and it didn’t stop until dawn.
Afterward, Song Yingli, aching all over, slapped Bai Zhi and snapped, “You’re crazy!”
Bai Zhi only smiled darkly and admitted, “I’ve been crazy for four years.”
Holding the woman’s delicate chin, Bai Zhi met her eyes.
“So what if I’m crazy?”
“Song Yingli, you can only be with me.”
A younger, scheming puppy of a woman, forcing love on her crush!
Theme: Treasure the rarest kind of love.
Oranges are loved but not available, and leaves are also loved but not available. Who is right and who is wrong? There is no requirement that if you like it, I must respond. The four years Cheng Cheng spent with Ye were all moved by herself. As for Ye, even though she has no love for Cheng, she has still had feelings for her since childhood. She is still a sister, but she is really cruel to Cheng, and she must have brought it upon herself. In my opinion, her feelings are very cheap and distorted. I think this article is normal!
I read this book in one sitting, and as I get older, I seem to understand every character. Mulberry is indeed annoying, but from her point of view, her behavior is actually logical. For a refined egoist, it is good to be able to do this. At the end she just sat and watched without disturbing. In essence, this is a person who is neither too bad nor too good. Others may find it strange, but in her own eyes, the world is like this. The second chapter of the book says that Mulberry is a child who grew up in love. I think that children who grow up in healthy love should be bright and make people want to get close to her. The kind of partiality and love given by Sangberry's parents may not be that true. It may be difficult for a family with unhealthy outlook on life to raise a child with normal outlook on life. I originally thought the author would portray her as a complete bad guy, but later she would care about her sister. This is also what I find most interesting about the whole novel. Every character has conflicts. Sangberry was so mean to Sangcheng when she was young, but she cared about her when she grew up. Sangcheng's parents also showed concern for Sangcheng later on. These contradictions make people feel real, and human nature is inherently multi-faceted and complex. There is no outright bad guy in the book. Zhuang Yingying, from her point of view, Han Wu and Ranzhi are both friends, so of course she is on her friend's side. Her words were a little childish, and when she thought about it, she could understand everything she did. Then to Han Wu. I think she is a selfish person, similar to Mulberry in a way. She doesn't really love Ranzhi, she doesn't understand love, just like Ranzhi in the previous period. When you love someone, how can you be willing to make her cry, how can you be willing to make her sad and embarrassed? That kind of forced, devoid of empathy love is essentially just for self-gratification. Speaking of Ranzhi, the author later wrote that family reasons made her a completely different person in the early stage. I don't think this reason is enough. It's not entirely convincing for a person's character to be twisted like this. Maybe it's more of a need for the plot – because from Sang Cheng's perspective, Ranzhi used to be so kind. However, there may be another layer: Ranzhi's cognition and heart are fighting. Her heart has fallen in love with Mulberry, but her knowledge does not allow it, so she hurts Mulberry to prove to herself that "I love Mulberry." Love is exclusive. Since Ranzhi can accept Sangcheng as a substitute lover, it means that she no longer loves Sangberry. Later, when she was with Sang Cheng, even when Sang Berry came to complain to her, she would avoid suspicion, and we could see her growth. After the car accident, she truly understood love and got back together with Sang Cheng. Ranzhi said in the book that if they had recognized themselves earlier, they would not have missed so many years. I think this idea is wrong. It's just right for them to be together now. At that time, Sang Cheng didn't love herself enough, and Ranzhi didn't understand what love was. There would be no good results between the two of them, and their status was unequal. Finally, there is the mulberry orange. I think this is the most three-dimensional person portrayed in the book. He is kind and resilient, as strong as a weed. The whole novel is light, with light sadness and light happiness. This kind of peaceful happiness is really desirable. I see too much of myself in it. On Ranzhi's body, on Sangcheng's body. I remember when I was young, I thought about what to eat every night with the person I liked, and walked around the campus after dinner to talk about the future. The summer evening breeze blows through our hair, as it does every ordinary night. Until now, I still feel that walking with my lover is the happiest thing. So I felt very emotional after reading it, but I no longer have their courage. She and I have been separated for six years, and we rejoined WeChat three months ago, but I haven't been able to get back the person I like like Ranzhi did. Love and hate all require strength. The author is right when he says that the opposite of hate is love. If a person no longer hates you, it means he no longer loves you. The "Order of Free Life, Life and Love" in the book is very interesting. Two people with the same ranking are the right people for each other. A person whose love accounts for 100% of his life and a person who only accounts for 20% of his life will only torture each other. Life is like this sometimes, the right person may be more important than the person you like. This novel is very small, I like it very much, and I won't have much emotional ups and downs after reading it. As I get older, I like to read some bloody stories. Although the author's writing style is still immature and the characterization of some characters is still lacking, the author will definitely get better and better. Thank you, the author, for letting me see such stories.
Why hasn't this Zhuang Yingying been offline yet? [Rolls eyes]
Don't like this mulberry at all
This girl looks really disgusting
[Eh~] I haven't watched it for a long time, but Mulberry still sheds crocodile tears. [Eh~] Xiao Cheng's scolding is absolutely right. After being a vested interest for so many years, how could he have the courage and courage to ask Xiao Cheng for anything? [Eh~]
I feel like Ye started to feel inferior this time and didn't want 🍊 to face her like this, so she decided to let go [Pigeon]
Disfigurement... It's the first time I see this, it's still a bit uncomfortable 💔
It's so miserable... Oh my god... Okay, Lao Ye, I forgive you [PIGEON][PIGEON][PIGEON]
This book is well written and shows a different kind of love between the two. The characters of the two people are also very flesh-and-blood and particularly three-dimensional. Especially when they were dealing with their lover Mr. Ye, neither of them ever denied the existence of Mr. Ye. We humans are constantly growing despite such contradictions. The past self is ourselves, and the changed self now is also ourselves. The most important thing is to learn a lesson emotionally and not make the same mistake again, and learn to tolerate and achieve mutual success with the other person. This is good. Emotionally, people can have a chance to make amends.
