I Love You as I Love Life

Wen Suishi grew up in an unhappy family. Her biological father was an alcoholic who beat her and her mother whenever he drank too much. After the divorce, her mother took her from place to place, working odd jobs wherever they could.

Later, her mother remarried, and Wen Suishi thought her life would finally go smoothly.

Her mother loved her, but she felt increasingly stifled in her new family. After her younger brother was born, her parents and relatives began praising her for being so “mature and sensible.”

She started to rebel. She liked using a compass to write on her arm, most often writing suicide notes. To escape her family, she went far away to study.

And then she met He Yu.

The first time she saw He Yu, summer sunlight filtered through lush green leaves and fell across her face, making her seem both carefree and warm.

Her instincts told her she wanted to be friends with her.

The truth was, He Yu... wasn’t as sunny and optimistic as she seemed.

She appeared easygoing and good-tempered, but inside, she instinctively resisted those people.

She smiled and played along.

No one knew about the rotten past she wanted buried deep in her bones, the stain on her life.

After being bullied at school and not daring to tell her parents the truth, she had gone from a quiet, timid girl to the person she was now, one step at a time, all on her own.

She thought she could never be loved.

Until Wen Suishi came into her life.

She had always wanted to tell her that the smile she wore that day, when she took the initiative to greet her and link arms with her, was truly beautiful.

She thought, So this person really likes me that much...

A story of mutual salvation between two people with depression.
