One-Sentence Synopsis:
Something huge has happened in the tennis club at Hyotei High. After being crushed by those absurdly powerful high school boys from Makino Fuji and Rikkai, Hyotei's tennis club captain, Ochi Tsukimitsu, refuses to play absurd tennis anymore. He leaves one day and runs off to play volleyball at Aoba Johsai in Miyagi Prefecture!
Ahem, here's the serious synopsis
During his second year of high school, Ochi Tsukimitsu transfers to Aoba Johsai because of his parents' work. He brings his tennis bag, ready to join the tennis club there, only to discover that volleyball is all the rage in this area, and the school doesn't even have a tennis club.
Ochi: "...Have people really gotten too old to play tennis?"
Iwaizumi Hajime happens to hear this wistful remark and turns to see who said it. Tennis fans are pretty rare these days. He looks around but doesn't spot anyone, and fails to notice the 'pillar' in front of him, walking straight into it.
Iwaizumi's eyes immediately sparkle with stars. Holding his head, he looks up to see when a 'pillar' got added to the school.
Then he hears a voice above him ask, "Are you okay?"
Iwaizumi stares in astonishment. "...A gi... giant..." Damn it, Oikawa, come look! There's a giant here!
Ochi Tsukimitsu happens to learn that Oikawa has missed out on the national tournament for five years in a row. A hint of surprise enters his cool gaze. Could volleyball have its own people as absurd as Byodoin?
Ochi Tsukimitsu, who also hasn't won a single major tennis tournament in five years, looks at the short guy in front of him, Tōru Oikawa. He reaches out, about to offer some words of comfort... only to get glared at.
Tōru Oikawa looks at the tall guy in front of him with a nonconformist hairstyle and a single blue lock of hair. Another naturally gifted one, he thinks indignantly, glaring at him with envy and jealousy. "What are you looking at? If you've got the guts, come play volleyball with me!"
Ochi Tsukimitsu: "Okay."
