Little Swallow

A Yuan was sold into the Minister of Works' residence as a servant when she was eight.

The person she feared most was not one of the fierce-looking matrons, but Miss Gu Lanqing, who was widely praised for her kindness outside the household.

A Yuan had seen how she tormented people. She always found a way to drive them to their deaths without anyone realizing what she had done.

But A Yuan was always cautious and meticulous, never giving anyone a chance to find fault with her. That was how she managed to live in peace in the Minister's residence.

Until the day she saw the servant Gu Lanqing had bought from outside: Yu Jing.

*

Yu Jing had once saved A Yuan, giving her a plain steamed bun when she was starving on a long street that seemed to have no end.

So A Yuan wanted to save him in return.

When he was framed and sold as a servant, she stood firmly in front of him to protect him.

She even drank the bowl of soup laced with deadly poison in his place.

That night, Yu Jing held her bloodied body in his arms and swore to avenge her.

And he did.

In just two years, he found evidence that overturned the old case. His achievements brought him even greater glory than before,

while the Minister's household was implicated in its past crimes and fell into ruin.

For two taels of silver, Yu Jing bought the once lofty Miss of the Minister's household and brought her into his residence as the lowest of servants.

He humiliated and trampled her every day. Even the daily medicine A Yuan took to detoxify her contained a key ingredient: blood from Gu Lanqing's wrist.

A Yuan thought Yu Jing hated Gu Lanqing.

But one day, she saw Yu Jing holding the woman tightly in his arms, as if he wanted to press her into his very bones and blood...
