Old Tales of Zhang De

The six regents of the Eastern Han were led by Empress Dowager Dou of Zhangde. She had four noblewomen killed, brought down two great clans, ruled from behind the throne, and ushered in the era of the Eastern Han's consort clan interference in government.

Yin Lihua won, but Guo Shengtong's descendants never forgot their hatred.

Dou Ling was a descendant of Guo Shengtong.

Her great-grandmother Guo Shengtong lost her position, and her grandfather, Crown Prince Liu Jiang, yielded his claim. Her mother went from a noble princess to the daughter of a prince. Power slipped away from the Guo clan, and the Dou family fell from favor as a result.

Misfortune always finds the fallen. Her father and brothers were successively convicted of crimes and executed. Her mother, Princess Biyang, held the household together alone, placing all her hopes in her eldest daughter, Dou Ling.

The proud princess wanted to return to the center of power.

Emperor Ming passed away, and Crown Prince Liu Da ascended the throne. The young emperor had no empress, and the great clans all scrambled to send their daughters into the palace.

Dou Ling hated everyone who had brought hardship upon her and her mother, especially... the emperor, the son of her father's killer.

She had come to seek justice for herself and her mother.
