What Is He Thinking When He Flirts With Me?

Note: The setting is entirely fictional. The novel is 70,000 words long.

One day, in some year.

Lu Lingqiu went over the whole situation from beginning to end, and realized in despair that he might as well quit being a doctor.

The reason was simple: he had advised a patient who came in for a consultation to stop spending all day entangled with someone they had imagined. Then, through a series of mishaps, he ended up entangled with the very person they had imagined.

At first, he laughed at the patient and said, "You're doomed. He's going to take his medicine. He doesn't want you anymore."

Later, Lu Lingqiu, questioning his own sanity, forced himself to take medication for his delusional disorder, thinking, "Great. I can see him. I want him too. I'm doomed."

"Lu Lingqiu, do you remember why you nearly failed to graduate from university back then?"

"No. I don't remember."

His friend set down his glass and said gravely:

"So you really have forgotten.

After that accident, the experts assessed you and said that you... felt things too deeply.

Sometimes, that only put you in greater danger."
