The Biggest Taboo in Our Line of Work Is Falling for a Client

Dr. Su runs a private psychology clinic.

As usual, a slender young man walked into his office that day.

He seemed quite troubled as he talked about his condition.

His handsome brows furrowed slightly.

He said, "Doctor, my husband really loves spending time with me, but I'm frigid."

"Doctor, do you think I should divorce him?"

--

The patient always came to see him on weekends, revealing a beautiful, porcelain-white neck covered in angry bruises.

He would carefully tell Dr. Su all about the ways he was treated against his will, then beg him to help soothe his emotions.

"I really don't understand why he likes being with me so much, why he likes touching me. It hurts so much, Dr. Su."

Dr. Su listened patiently to his confessions time and time again, making time for him again and again. He even crossed professional boundaries to touch the wounds of his troubled heart.

The young man said, "Mm, it's different."

"It really hurts when he bites me, but when you put medicine on it, Doctor, it actually feels pretty nice."

For the first time, Dr. Su, who had made his way into the young man's heart, let his personal feelings interfere with his work and suggested that the young man get a divorce.

He never expected that his first misdiagnosis would involve someone suffering from delusions and a tendency toward self-harm.

"Ah, you mean I don't have a husband?"

The young man clutched his coat hem, the corners of his eyes red. "But if I don't have a husband, I won't be able to come see you..."

Perhaps he was a mental patient himself. Dr. Su pulled the young man into his arms and said gently, "For your treatment, your doctor recommends getting a new husband."
