The Self-Cultivation of an East Asian Female Ghost

When someone caused trouble in the restaurant and the girl working as a waitress looked up at him with a bright red handprint on her cheek and cobalt-blue eyes, Jason knew things had gone bad. Her familiar features left him no choice but to take in the Asian girl, who looked like she was about to be left homeless.

He spent the first night living with her because he couldn’t bear to leave someone so fragile-looking, but he hadn’t expected that one compromise to lead to a complete surrender.

“Big brother, big brother.” An Xiya sat in the shadow behind the curtains, calling to him in a voice both tender and damp with longing. “You’ll always love me, right?”

Behind her lay a chill of long hair and the blood still seeping from her hem. Jason caressed her cheek and murmured with lowered eyes:

“Yes, I’ll always love you.”
